    Western Tour on Trophy SE

As I sit here watching the snow fall I thought I would share my fun from last summer.  Had a wonderful time riding the Trophy SE around New Mexico, Utah, Colorado and Texas in June, 2019.  Camped out along the way and generally enjoyed myself.  My riding partner was on a BMW GS, but that was his problem not mine!  I'll have to say that even with all my camping gear on the bike it performed like a champ.  I really didn't notice the weight.  Temps ranged from 105 to about 35.  Rode in sunshine, rain, hail, and really wicked wind that I was pretty sure was going to blow me off the road.  Can't wait until this summer to head out again!

Thank you for sharing those excellent photos.

They are seen to have enjoyed that excellent trip very much.

I also liked his great travel companion.

My travel companion was in a BMW GS, but that was his problem, not mine!  :821: :821: :821:

    Hello pabramo,

It looks like you've had a great adventure, thanks for sharing. I'm still working on sorting camping gear and noticed you are using a cot. Can you recommend a brand and if it's been working for you?

    Thx ,
    Tom

    Tom,

    I used this cot:

Here is a picture of it in the sack:

This is what it looks like when I pull it out of the sack.

I really like it.  It packs up small and light, the Trophy doesn't mind carrying it  :001: and I get a much better night's sleep.  At a couple of the camp grounds we had to put up our tents on gravel pads, so this really helped.  You never have to worry about having a smooth place to pitch your tent.  Let me know if you have any other questions.

Peter, the wife & I (she on her Spyder) did a similar trip in June 2018 from So Cal and rode through Arizona, Colorado and Utah.  Amazing sites and wonderful roads to ride!  Although we motel'd it on that trip, I see camping trips in our future.  I'm slowly stocking up on new camping gear, smaller & lighter than the stuff I take in my Jeep, so hopefully we'll make it happen this summer.  I was about to shop for a couple cots, so glad to see the Therm-a-rest version worked for you.  Thanks for the pics!

I use the same Thermarest camp bed; very light, very compact, very expensive  :164: :164:, but excellent piece of kit.  I use a 3/4 length inflatable mat on top for supreme comfort...
