    Engine blown?

So . have to work from home now due to the current situation so popped into the office to collect a few things.

On the way back, doing 65 in 6th gear when suddenly "BANG / CRUNCH" from the engine ..... great big cloud of smoke from the exhaust.

Came to a halt and have walked home, now waiting to see if it can be collected and if so what is wrong!

It would be necessary to know more data to be able to evaluate the fault. It sounds bad anyway.

    2013 with 37k miles.

Engine totally seized, but can't get the bike sorted for "at least three months" due to current Covid 19 nonsense.

I have owned the bike since new, but when I spoke to the dealer earlier, he asked if it had been back to the factory for the top end recall.

It never has and I have never been contacted about this so I'm assuming that the recall was issued to bikes BEFORE mine.??

I wouldn't assume that.  Sorry to say.  There has been several 2013 Trophys and 2012 and 2013 Tiger Explorers that have suffered this issue.

I think the link is still there.  On the Triumph site you should be able to enter your VIN and see if there are recalls listed.

The first few Trophies from VIN Number  ............  to 637165 were eligible for head replacement.  Yours could have been done at the dealer before it was ever sold if it is below the above number, or it may never have been done and you were never contacted about it.  Check your VIN# and see if it is eligible, and by all means contact Triumph America.  I think some have had it done due to catastrophic failures well out of warranty when theirs weren't done beforehand.  Some other members that have had this issue may be of more help than I regarding the procedures/requirements for getting it resolved.  Mine is a 2013 but is after the noted VIN#.  Let us know how it turns out.
