Winter finally ebbing here in NW Minnesota, though the lakes are still frozen over. But it hit the mid 50's today; warm enough to get out on my first ride of the year. Oh, and to finally have a photo shoot of my winter project. What started out as an attempt to repair some scratches on both sides of the bike due to 1.) Beloved daughter dismounting without telling dad, 2.) I'd rather not say, quickly turned into a "let the pros do it" job. The guys at the auto body shop were adamant that I needed a faster color than Phantom Black, but it wasn't without some fear that I allowed them to spray my plastic a Ruby Red Metallic. There was even more fear bringing the parts home to my beloved, but thankfully she just rolled her eyes.... Beyond what the shop did, I wanted a simpler look so I replaced the emblems on the side bags with raised-vinyl stickers I found on AliExpress. Took six weeks to get here but they made it. I also never really liked the block "TROPHY SE" letters, so replaced those with some chrome script for a bit of a throwback look. Amazing what you can find on Amazon. Finally, I had the side openings painted black, but I painted a matching Ruby Red Metallic accent stripe and painted the inner grills silver. The Ruby Red changes color from a deep hue in the shade, to a bright hue in the sun. Hope you like it, but that's ok if you don't!
