    '13 versus '15

New to the forum, looking for my first Trophy actually. I'm a Tiger owner looking for a ride with longer legs for the highway.

I'm comparing a pretty good deal on a remote '13 versus a local deal that also seems good on a '15 model and looking for opinions. I understand opinions vary... looking for input I may not know or have thought of.
'13 has 18k miles and a top case; color I prefer; it's also 1,000 miles away
'15 has 13k miles and no top case; black, not my first choice; 20 miles away

The price difference is $1,100 more for the '15

Is there anything significant I need to know that is different between a '13 and a '15 ?
I saw something about the cruise control. Can someone elaborate?

     :400: to the forum

Cruise control has been standard on all trophies since they were manufactured in 2012.

Obviously the price difference is not clear to me which of the two is a higher price. But if they give me a choice.
Obviously I stick with 15. Although it is further away and has the TopCase incorporated.  :821: :821: :821:

    Here again. Hahaha.

Even if you have the same kilometers you do not give us more details. for example:

The 13 and the 15 are both SE? It could be that one of the two is the standard model and (the non-SE) in that case if there is a large price difference. Electronic suspensions, sound equipment and TPMS.

The Phantom Black Trophys have a silver metallic in the black and look great in person! :028:
Also, looks like the '13 is coming up for it's  20,000 mile service, which I believe can be a little costly (another factor) which someone with more knowledge than me,  can possibly confirm!
Would also check to make sure the '15 has had its 10,000 mile service performed.

Thought I read somewhere that the only version of the Trophy, sold in the US, was the SE. :084:

Stick around, I promise you'll get all the answers your looking for!

In that case it is an SE. I'd stick with 15, assuming it's perfect, of course.

I had a '13 SE for 69k miles and now have a low mileage '15 SE. The only difference between the years is factory fixes vs recalls between the years built, IMHO. Other than changing colors, it's like I never got off the '13.

    I'd go with the '15.
    - close by so you can view/ride before buying
    - 20k service (~$1100) is further away
    - top cases are cheap and the Trophy's weighs a ton for no good reason!
    - lower mileage is usually the better choice
    - you can paint it any color you want

Either way, if long distance comfort & spirited riding is your goal, Get a Trophy SE.

The only change in cruise control I'm aware of is the switches had little extended moulding to ease the reach whilst holding the grip but I think this was a '16 year modification.

My vote would definitely be for the '15, closer and lower miles is always a good thing.  As for the top box my '13 had one and as said they weigh a ton also like a Tardis in reverse they look huge but have a significant thick inner plastic.  I dumped mine from the '13 and did not bother getting one on the '16 I currently have.  I have a Touratech rear carrier bag and a rear seat bag, if this is not enough capacity I swap the rear seat bag for a waterproof 30L bag.  Mind if you tour with a pillion then the top box will be a must.

Enjoy your ride whichever one you go for.
    Love, light, and kindness,

    Dave

Thanks. I have used a backpack/day bag on the Tiger up to this point and it works well enough. The top box isn't a deal killer but with a couple kids that like dad to take them for a ride, it makes them a little more comfortable.
