Just a quick question on this subject, my TTSE  just failed its MOT because of this issue at 31k. I was wondering if it is possible to replace the unit with an aftermarket unit?

Not sure there is one available however I think you can get it reconditioned, I have an old dead one, I've donated to group, yours for price of postage, if you wish to recondition it when done use it to replace your old one, then donate that one to group

    Hi,
Just had a call from the dealer telling me the same thing about my bike.
Would rather repair than have to sell for parts. Bit of a long shot but does anyone know of a refurb place in the South East of England or have any helpful links to help me do the work myself.

    Thank you.

Found a link here with a search of the forum although I don't know if they're close to you.

A little update from me. After getting the rear shock out in August last year, I finally got round to sending the rear shock to Firefox Racing. I sent them all the components I had purchased including parts from Coconut.

A couple of days later they called me up with an update. Unfortunately the problem was worse than expected. The shocks rod/shaft had snapped internally, most likely due to bearings being seized after 40,000 miles of year round riding. There was probably a lot of torque being put on the shaft and it eventually fatigued and failed. This explains why the bike dramatically turned into a pogo stick exiting a roundabout causing me to almost low side it.

Anyway Firefox Racing said they would be able to mill a new one in a few days. A week later I had my refurbished shock back with new shaft, bearings, seals and sleeves. They even put a new connector plug where it had been damaged during removal.

Firefox racing posted the shock back and I had the bike back together in about 3 hours. It took a pit of wiggling around and figuring out where everything needed to go but it was fairly straight forward.

I've put a couple hundred miles on the bike now and all working as it should. All in all I highly recommend Firefox Racing!

Thank you for all the posts and information from members. I definitely wouldn't have attempted doing this without it. Next job is replacing the old heated grips...one of them has stopped working  :152:
