    Engine Serial Number Location
    on: Apr 20, 2020, 10.44 pm
    Apr 20, 2020, 10.44 pm
Did a search for "Engine serial number" and "Serial numbers" and nothing popped up.
Would like to know where the engine serial number is located and do body panels need to be removed to view it?
    Thanks! :164:

The information you require is on page 15 of the Owners Hand Book, but if you do not have one, here you go  :028:
And it should be accessible without removing the Left Hand panel.

Sometimes the engine number on the right side of the oil filter may not match the last six numbers on the VIN plate.

Hi everyone.  Newbie TT owner here in Southern California.  I've just upgraded from a 06 (Bring More Wallet!) K1200LT to a 2014 Trophy SE and can't get it registered unless California can record the engine serial number.  Since I bought it from Montana, it has no plates on it and I can't ride it over for the inspection.  They said to take a picture of the engine serial number and I can't for the life of me find anything stamped to the right of the oil filter.  I can't imagine that I'd need to take the skins off.  Can someone offer me any advice?  Maybe a picture?  the Illustration on page 15 of the manual clearly shows the oil filter but I don't see the 3 bolt locations from the illustration.  The shaft drive housing seems to be in that general area.

    Thanks
    SolarGuy

As mentioned, the engine number is next to the oil filter, in the photo you can see the oil filter hole that is to the left of the engine number.

To see the number of the engine it is not necessary to disassemble anything, simply put a light with a flashlight and you will see it clearly.

Thank you so much Digital!  I found it covered in oil changing grime.  The manual illustrator needs to be fired.  It shows the serial number on a vertical surface and it's on the horizontal one below the filter.

Thanks again.  Off to the DMV to get some plates.

    There are two "Serial" Numbers.

On mine the ENGINE Serial Number is on a Horizontal surface - to the right of the Oil Filter.

The previous Image from the Handbook shows the VIN ( Vehicle Identification Number )
being vertical - this is stamped into the Frame on the right side of the Headstock,
with the VIN Plate riveted to the left side of the Headstock.
