Open garage door with high beam (long)

Some people have contacted me privately, asking me how they could put a remote control to open their garage door.

For those who keep the motorcycle in the parking lot ...

I leave you an example that is very simple.

Some of you may be tired of having to find the remote control to open your garage door.

    Especially when wearing gloves.

The only thing to keep in mind is to see the voltage with which your remote control works.

Normally they go with a 12 volt battery, if they are controls that work with 3 or 6 volts, no problem. But you should put a voltage regulator and adjust it to the voltage of your battery.

A photo is worth a thousand words, so here it goes:

The task to be performed is very simple ...

Remove your remote control, locate the button.

It makes a bridge between its two contacts, in the case that it has four contacts, with the help of a multimeter, observe two of the pins that go diagonally, between those two pins they must give continuity (short circuit), when the button.

So, between those two terminals, you should make the bridge.

Then discard the battery and solder one black wire to the negative pole where it was to the battery and solder another red wire to the positive pole where the battery was.

Now the negative black wire connects it to ground (motorcycle ground) and the positive red wire connects it to the high beam lead (high beam).

Now when you press the high beams with the button on the back of the keyboard (horn-like button).
    Open your garage door.

    Tension regulator:

    That's a really trick solution.

As an alternative, I use a Flash2Pass system on all my bikes.  They are no longer in business but it looks like someone has acquired the design and is now producing the same system under a new name, FlashtoOpen.

Instead of wiring into the high beam circuit, I have installed a flush mounted switch on the tank cover to open/close my garage door.

If right. The problem is that this solution is precisely not to install auxiliary buttons.

According to comments I have daily with people who ask me. They don't want to put auxiliary buttons.

There are many people who do not want to add buttons or drill any part of their motorcycle to put buttons.

That is why I have put a simple way without having to drill and take advantage of the button of the lights. There's nothing wrong with being connected there.

I use a HogBox motorcycle garage door opener.  Though it doesn't meet your "no drill" installation, digital, it's pretty simple and involves a minor, easily replaced part.  I've installed the switch on the heated seat switch blank and the component itself is installed on the inside of the left side fuse cover/panel.  Of course, if you use a heated seat that space isn't available.  The switch itself can be installed anywhere, for that matter.  I've had it installed in this particular position for a few years with no issue.

The system that I use is designed to use the high beam switch to activate the system. I chose to use a separate switch.

Also to say, that this does not create additional costs, if you have another remote control for the replacement door, that would be, sacrificing another remote control to put it on the motorcycle.
