Zumo 550 Direct Wired -- No Navigation Override
« on: August 17, 2013, 07:30:06 pm »
Forgive me if the answer is here someplace, I searched and didn't find anything.
I've connected my Zumo 550 on a dash shelf and ran an audio patch cord to the NAV input plug on the Trophy.
At first I thought I wasn't getting any nav input but I just discovered that the audio volume is extremely low. If I turn up my MixIt2 to 100% I can hear the GPS but barely. This is a LOT of gain, normal volume level on the MixIt is 40%.

Any ideas on why there is so little volume on this input jack?

The radio manual states that nav directions will override other audio sources. I have the patch cord plugged into the cradle. Is it seeing the nav directions as just audio out as if it were playing music?

I'd really like to get the override function for directions if it's possible.

Any clues or suggestions would be most welcome.

TIA and best regards,

Mike when I had my Zumo connected directly to the Nav input on the trophy I had no volume issues, through the bike speakers or into my Bluetooth headset. How do you have the zumo wired through the mixit?

Thanks for trying to help out.

I've tested the Zumo wired directly to the MixIt and it works as it always did.

I have this set up for the TT

Zumo --> audio jack under mirror (part of TT system)
BT Receiver (RX) paired to TT as Device 2
output of BT RX --> MixIt.
I get very low audio from the Zumo but the radio comes in just fine.

Maybe it's because the TT isn't connected to a device it sees as a headset?
When I try to pair the BT receiver (RX) as a headset it recognizes it but fails to pair. I suspect pairing fails because it is looking for a device that has transmit ability (TX). I am starting to think that the Triumph system will only work as advertised with a headset which has RX and TX functionality. Do you think this might be the case?

I can go back to my original setup and it will work just fine. I was just trying to get the override function to work.

Thanks again,
