Worn Heated Grip Rubbers @ 45000 miles

OK, as usual I have searched the forum and have found that no one else in the known world has wear on their handlebar (heated) grip rubbers.
My left hand one is paper thin where the heel of my palm rests whilst operating the clutch. the only fix seems to be new replacement with OEM parts, unless someone knows different???

That's a new one! What have you done to the material on the palm of your left glove? Come to think about it, what about your palm?!

Have you ever tried using these?

Other Members have had this problem, e.g. here :

    Heated Grips Turned to Mush.

It seems that fitting Grip Puppies over the top sorts this problem out,
and they cost less than replacing them with new Triumph Grips ! :028:

Grip Puppies ( or similar ) do make the hand grips a slightly larger diameter,
and it also takes the heat a little longer to come through if you have Heated Grips,
but I find the larger size is not only more comfortable, but makes the throttle
easier to control - especially with my ageing bones !

    Cheers  :821:

Many years ago I fitted something similar to a bike I owned, sponge like material that slid over the original grips, I'm assuming that these are very similar? I found that they were good at holding rain water, didn't like the soaking wet squidgy feeling they provided on my rides home from work for example, if your bike lives outside, that maybe something to consider?? I did end up removing the ones I had.

Those covers in the photo are great and very durable, in 5 years I have only replaced them 2 times, if I had not put those covers there would be no rubber on the original cuffs.

As suggested, Grip Puppies. Solves your problem and opens up your grip for a more relaxed hand.  :821: :158:

Original "Grip Buddies" are made from a latest version of wetsuit material and don't hold moisture.  I've used them on three different rides now, 2 BMW's and the Trophy.  Wrap around fit, cut to length if necessary (may not even be necessary), lets the grip heat through, and cheap and easy to replace.  The extra added attraction is they add a slight amount of diameter and cushion vibrations some, win, win.  Other brands probably do exactly the same thing.  Don't leave home without them.
