Triumph Tech News #168 Modified Gear Selector Kit

Just to add my $0.02 worth.

Last year I had this modified kit of components fitted to my gearbox.  I have a 2016 bike with 72,000 miles, had it done at 69,138.  I was experiencing a stiff and glitchy engaging of first gear.  After the kit was fitted the changing has been slick and pretty smooth.  I find loading the gear lever prior to change works well.

Having ridden the new Tiger 900 with the special clutchless gear change my TTSE felt clunky and slow to change.  The new system is fast and seamless I loved it.  I think what I'm saying is 'clunky' is a relative term.  After the new components mine felt silky smooth, after riding the new Tiger900 mine felt clunky!

Here is an extract to demonstrate the difference between the orignal version
of Gear Selector Drum and Selector Forks.

Note the original "Mushroom" shape of the Selector Fork engaging dogs,
compared to the plain, and more robust shape of the modified Selector Fork :

The Detent Springs for the Gear Change mechanism are also changed as shown below :

Yep...I can't find this anywhere for under 379 in the US. But, my Trophy shifts fine. I don't expect it to feel like a race bike, but it's not excessively clunky or hard to shift...I guess I'll leave it alone.
