Trophy SE and Explorer 1200 compatibility

New here, obviously, and just purchased a 2014 Trophy SE.  The Explorer 1200 seems very similar.  Does anyone know if the Explorer 1200 power commander will work on the Trophy?  Does anyone know if the Explorer 1200 and Trophy SE seats are the same?

That is a good question and something I have pondered a time or two. My main point of interest is the engine. In '18 while the Trophy got cut from the lineup the Tiger got all the engine updates. I want to say it's the same base engine, so if something were to happen to mine, cold I have a '18 and up Tiger engine installed?

I believe options like that are a good thing to have.  From what I understand, they share more than a few components.  Would be nice to know what.

This is what the inside of my garage has looked like, since the Trophy arrived 4 weeks ago...

Iím comparing them daily and outside of the engine and drive shaft, they share next to nothing in common. The only thing that Iíve found that similar are the heated seat switches and even then, Iím not convinced that the associated cable lengths are the same.

Engine and drive shaft are very similar and Iím sure most individual bits of hardware are shared, but they are in a different state of tune which might lead to ECU incompatiblity issues if a wholesale engine swap is considered, while the gearing is also taller on the Trophy (thereís a 500 rpm difference at 70 mph in 6th).

As long as Triumph are still there, we should be fine (for Trophy specific parts) for another 7 years and with the Explorer being replaced soon, the clock will start ticking on the parts for that anyway. The new Explorer/ Trophy 1200 looks to be a completely different design, being based on the much weedier Tiger 900 and even losing the single sided rear swing arm.

Iím not fussy, as long as itís built in Hinckley or Solihull and tours, or goes off road, Iím happy!

    Hello, what model is Explorer?

Otherwise know as the ďTiger 1200Ē, itís the adventure bike equivalent to the Trophy:

It is my understanding that the gearing is different between the two models.
