    Routine Maintenance

    So I just sold my Thunderbird because some routine maintenance was a royal PITA.
    (Rear tire removal, valve adjustment...)
    I'm considering a Trophy. To anyone who can compare, how do they in the maintenance area?
    I'm the consummate DIYer, but don't like things that are overly complicated by design!

    Thoughts?

    My opinion.....overly complicated by design!

    Pull muffler to remove rear wheel should have clued me in.  Don't even think of anything without an hour of plastic removal.  OK, slight exaggeration but not by much.

    You need to find a different bike I think.  The Trophy is definitely not an easy maintenance bike.

    Actually, removing muffler to get to the rear wheel isn't that big a deal. Or is it?
    I have plastic to remove to access my Tiger 955i too, but only about 15 minutes. Things aren't as "hidden" as on the Trophy though.

    On the T-Bird, just checking the valves is bad enough. The cam holders actually cover a large portion of the inner 4 cam lobes making measuring the gap difficult. Heaven forbid if you need to change a shim. Drain oil, remove alternator cover & alternator, (buy or borrow a $100 socket to do that) insert another special tool to lock engine.....

    Well you said the Thunderbird was a pain; I'm just saying the Trophy is certainly no easier.  No, removing the silencer isn't much of a job...but I can write plenty that are  :002:

    To be honest, I think it is better to keep a Trophy than to spend two hours lying on the sofa at home watching movies or series that we have already seen 40 times ...  :821: :305: :305:
