In the UK it was previously not legal to convert a Headlamp designed for using Halogen bulbs
( such as the Trophy Headlamp ) so that it could use HID or LED Bulbs, for use on a Public Road.

That was because the Headlamps are designed for Halogen Bulbs,
and only Halogen bulbs were legislated and approved for use in them.

HOWEVER, as of 22 March 2021, MOT Special Notice 01-21 "Headlamp conversions"
came into force, which states :

    1. About headlamp conversions

Section 4.1.4 of the current MOT inspection manuals for both motorcycles and cars and passenger vehicles states
‘Existing halogen headlamp units should not be converted to be used with high intensity discharge (HID)
or light emitting diode (LED) bulbs. If such a conversion has been done, you must fail the headlamp.’

    2. Changes to current rules

From 22 March 2021, we’re changing these rules so that not all motorcycles and vehicles will fail the MOT test
if their halogen headlamp units have been converted to be used with HID or LED bulbs.

    Class 1 ( Mopeds and motorcycles up to 200cc ) and Class 2 motorcycles ( Over 200cc ).

Class 1 and 2 motorcycles must not be failed for the defect ‘Light source and lamp not compatible’.

Headlamps must comply with all other requirements of the test and headlamp aim.

The motorcycle inspection manual will be updated shortly, and the ability to select the defect within the MOT testing service will be removed.

Therefore, provided the aim of the Headamp Beam and pattern comply with the Regulations,
LED Bulbs CAN now be used in the UK, in "Halogen" headlamp units.  :169:

Different countries, different rules, thanks for the explanation. I hope I got the real sense of it.
OSRAM has released a list of front light numbers (E-number plus make/manufacture code or whatever), they have satisfactorily tested their H4 LED-bulbs in.
The end user has to check and verify that he is allowed to use the LED-bulbs in his vehicle.
I would assume that they have tested all aspects including light orientation and heat dissipation etc. before they get approval. And I doubt they tested it in a Trophy...

    Kind regards

In the U.S. the LED bulbs I have seen are listed as Off road use only.

When you get a LED bulb for the center parking bulb get one with little dome, I tried two other LED bulbs one with the little LED squares all around it and one right on top and then another LED bulb that was like a little down but didn’t put it out quite as much light and then I found Sylvania bulb that put out the most light.

By any chance, do you have the item number from Sylvania? Or an Amazon link?

    Thanks!

Check the 2825 bulbs and the 194/168 I believe you will find that the little dome on top of the bulb is bigger on the 2825.
I have the 194 /168 bulbs in the package but I don’t have my 2825 readily available
    to compare.
