     Gents
Any clues and/or tips to get the stand return spring on?
does it need to be vertical in use or horizontal at rest.
Arthritis is making it a pig to stretch on.
Any one have details from the service Manual.

    Thanks in advance,       Mike.

Putting coins or washers between each turn works on my BSA stand springs. Try that.

Yup, bend it back and forth and fit in coins or washers or whatever to lengthen it.

A spring puller tool is best, and I have one.
Shame I didn't see this post earlier as I was past your house on Friday!
Let me know if you want me to pop down again
You may be able to take the pivot bolt out of the right side of the stand, attach the spring and then use the leverage available from the stand to align the holes and pop the bolt back in

    Mr slow to respond here........
Managed with some brute force and ignorance!
Arthritic hands made the brute force a bit lacking but plenty of the other option!
Just got an 8 inch loop of para cord on bottom of spring through stand loop and pry bar under crossbrace of stand,
    Voila done.
All back together and I don't know if it is all in the mind but a 90 mile 'test' ride yesterday afternoon felt 'smoother'
    Probably all in the mind!!
Showed the mechanics at dealer the mod'd/ knurled spacer that replaces the alloy one into frame  WELL impressed.

    Thanks  all.
