TPMS alternative - Garmin TPMS system

There is an issue of cost when replacing the Trophy TMPS transmitter units when the batteries fail (usually after 3 years).  I've replaced the batteries myself and it wasn't too difficult for me, and i assume anyone with reasonable soldering skills.  However, the Garmin product caught my eye.  It seems to be a better unit in that you don't have to remove the tyre to replace the power source and it also gives an alert when the tyre pressure falls (the Trophy unit doesn't).  Of course, you need the Garmin Sat Nav but I think most of us probably already have this.  Does anyone use the Garmin TPMS and can offer feedback?  I'd rather hear from people actually using it rather than hearsay or assumption....  :038:

The Trophy's TPMS does furnish a low pressure warning on the dash, but there isn't any audio warning.  I can verify that from a puncture.

Hi Ken i to was looking into this a few weeks ago, the issue is you'll need to fit two straight metal valves , now i assumed they were all the same size, there not, and at the present time i dont no what size they are.

Essentially the same product has been sold here in The States for years, but with its own small wireless receiver. I had it mounted on a previous BMW F700GS, and it functioned well. The only negative, other than the fitment issue mentioned, is that anyone can steal those caps with impunity, although it didnít happen to me.  :821:

The Triumph console alarm, all be it only visual, is pretty hard to miss  :084:

The aftermarket screw on cap types currently available, at least all those I've looked at, are supplied with a serrated lock nut and spanner and I can vouch for them being damn fiddly to remove, that's the only real downside of them. The USB rechargeable display I have mounted on the console with a magnet, it gets put in my pocket or a locked box if the bike is unattended. It's not so likely a Torag would have a tool to remove the senders or willing to risk spending the time trying to steal a £20 bit of kit when they can only take half of it.

    That's assuming the Clowns think.
I've had $2 chrome caps stolen off of vehicles.
