Id like to fit an extra Hella socket, but Id like to run this by you

I have three things arriving tomorrow and when theyre all here, I should be in a position to reassemble at least the dashboard!

    I should have:

    1. The Triumph satnav Mount
    2. A power cable for the same (still two in stock at Laguna motorcycles👍)
    3. An extra Hella socket.

Im planning on using the satnav AMPS mount to buy a compatible mount for my iPhone, then using the power supply cable to connect to the satnav power feed socket and then attach it to a Hella socket in the dash, which would allow me to plug in pretty much anything but, in this case, a USB adapter to charge the phone. Ill be using the phone for satnav, amongst other things.

    So, these are the questions:

    1. Is there a better way to charge an iPhone on the bike, while still having it on the ANPS Mount?
    2. Can anyone recommend a good, AMPS ready phone mount for an iPhone 11 Max?
    3. It looks like the best place to mount the Hella socket in the dash is drilling out an 18mm hole in  the (redundant - non SE) speaker grille. Is there a better place?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help with any of the above  :028:

Go to the SP Connect website and look at all the motorcycle mounts, specifically the wireless charging mount.  I use a couple of their mounts.  Put the phone against the wireless dock, turn it 90 degrees and it's locked onto the dock.  Set it horizontal or vertical.  Sp-connect.com

Thank you for the suggestion, unfortunately, I can seem to find a connector to an AMPS mount there. Have I missed it?

If you use a Hella socket, be aware that it may not be water resistant when in use,
only when the cover is closed over it, which could prevent it's use in bad weather.

Check to see if there is a version that remains water resistant in use.

For the Wireless Charging option mentioned by trophied
    SP-Moto have a "Ball Mount" (  :191:   :745:  ) that could be coupled with a
    RAM AMPS Mount ?

    Suggestions ( Check sizes ) :

    SP-Connect Ballhead mount
RAM Ball adapter with AMPS Mount
    RAM Double Socket Arm

    Cheers  :821:

The Ram ball is apparently the only S-P solution, I've got one I use for my wireless dock because of where I needed to mount it.  I thought S-P Connect would have an amps pattern adapter, sorry.  I may suggest an amps adapter to them, they are very receptive to input from users and are always launching new items.

Their phone cases that are wireless charging capable and lock onto the dock are really GREAT cases too, and you can even get a waterproof silicone cover if your phone isn't wet weather friendly.
