A Covid case in the family

My 78 year old brother was diagnosed 2 days ago with the virus.  No idea where he got it, he has been homebound for the last 2 months knowing he was at risk due to age and asthma.  He lost his wife last December after a sudden and very traumatic health issue that eventually involved double amputations before she died, then a few months ago one of his twin dogs died from a broken heart after losing his mom and the other one is sorely depressed now.  No one to care for him, I'm 150 miles away and he won't hear of anyone coming into his house for fear of transmission.  Refuses to subject himself to a hospital stay.  Has one friend making arrangements for food and medications being delivered to his door, and he has been informed that if he calls and my brother doesn't answer he should come pick up the dog - implying yes, he's done.  I call every day to see what the status is and he tells me there's nothing I can do to help.  At least yesterday in his short of breath state we were able to joke about some family experiences and laugh and it seemed he was in good spirits.  Those conversations his friend wouldn't relate to so I think it's important psychologically that I call him.  I'm now joining the legion of others that have had family suffer through this.  I wish anyone experiencing the effects of this virus in any way all the best.

My heart goes out to both you and your brother, what a dilema to be in, I can't imagine it. It's an aweful time at the moment and some of us are very lucky not to be affected.

Hopefully he'll pull through, and I wish you both well.

    Stay safe  :028:

I regret that situation. My best wishes that everything goes well.
Keep yourself and your family safe.
