Good Evening from SE Wisconsin
« on: August 02, 2020, 01:16:59 AM »
Hey, everybody!  Just made a risky purchase today.  Bought a 2014 TTSE with 92,000 miles!

I've owned '80's Yamaha's (FJ600 and FJ1100) and most recently (sold on Memorial weekend) an Aprilia RST1000.  So, first Triumph.  I thought that FJ1100 had some roll-on power. . .  Unreal how hard the TT pulls!  Put a smile on my face. . .

Get a little valve noise when you first start it but it only last a few seconds.  Idles fine, runs great, everything works, looks almost new.  Let the journey begin!

Welcome! I think that mine sounds like that with only just over 10% of the mileage that yours has!

Do you have any photos of her yet?
After 7 years of riding the Tiger 1200 (the Trophy's disreputable hooligan little brother!), in May 2020 it was joined by a Ruby Red and Gold Trophy too 😁

Welcome to the club from a fellow Cheesehead living in exile. Should have all the kinks worked out at 92k and hopefully gives you many years of service!

Thanks for the warm welcome everybody!  Love these forums. . .   Belonged to an Aprilia one that was a great source of information and just sharing stories.

That was really the deciding factor for me.  The kinks should be worked out.  I'll have to check with a Triumph dealer to see if all the recalls have been takend care of.  I would think that if someone was going to put that many miles on and keep it looking as good as it does they would've taken care of the maintenance issues.  But, you never know.

The valve noise is still a little concerning.  Is it normal?  Almost seems like it has hydraulic lifters and they just need a few seconds to get pumped up with oil.  Motor is super quiet after a few seconds.

Any advice on how to get this monster on the center stand?  Holy balls!  This thing's heavy!

How do you lift it on to the stand now? On a flat surface with the right technique, it can be put on the centre stand even wearing sandals!

Are you aware of the rear suspension ever having been lowered, that can have an affect.
