TigerTool V3 diagnostics on the Trophy

Back in 2014 I wrote a simple Windows program to reset the service interval on the Tiger 800 and released it for free over at the Tiger 800 forum (www.tiger800.co.uk) for any member to download.

Since then there have been several updates to add new requested features and support other models (new generation 800s and Explorer / Tiger 1200 & Sport variants) with the most recent version (3.0) being released 6 weeks ago. In its various guises TigerTool has been downloaded and used 1000s of times across the supported forums and is still free.

Earlier today forum member mtowngoldie posted on here about his success with using TigerTool on his 2017 Trophy SE. Earlier versions of TigerTool only worked with a limited range of models but with V3.0 I added a new feature to allow it to be easily tested on other models. It was this feature that mtowngoldie used to get it to work on his Trophy and you can read how he managed it here...

    https://www.triumph-trophy.com/index.php/topic,10578.msg121272.html#msg121272

You can read more about the latest version of TigerTool in the 'How-To' sections of the Tiger 800 & Explorer forums HERE and HERE. Unless you're a member of those forums you won't be able to download the files from these links.

If any members of this forum want to try TigerTool without having to register at those above I'll post a copy in a new topic on here similar to those linked above. I'd need to ask Admin to temporarily remove the file upload limits on my account to be able to do this, but in the meantime I can always send you a DropBox link to download the files from if you PM me.

Another of the new features in V3.0 is the ability to enable/disable the TPMS system on the bike (not just in the instrument menu) and to reprogram the TPMS sensor IDs into the immobiliser. Contrary to the belief in certain quarters, this is surprisingly easy to achieve and should work on any Triumph that uses their standard immobiliser for the TPMS comms (which is a very big list!). Sadly my Tiger 1200XRT with its keyless ignition doesn't use the same immobiliser and so the TPMs is handled by the Chassis ECU which I've yet to crack access into. I have the codes but haven't figured out the algorithm. As far as I'm aware, and I'm happy to be corrected, the Trophy uses the standard Triumph immobiliser for the TPMS comms rather than a Chassis ECU, so the TPMS feature of TigerTool 'should' work on the Trophy.

Finally, TigerTool is very safe to use and doesn't access any forbidden or locked areas of the bike's ECU.

I have tried to enter the forum of the link that you put and obviously, as you say, I can only read.

It would be nice if you could put the software and exactly the type and model of connector necessary to be able to test on a TROPHY. I would have no problem running tests and getting into the ECU and Immobilizer. If a problem arises, I can always replace with the Triumph tool I have.

    Thanks for the information provided.

    T800XC,
Today I have been testing with the interfaces that I have and I have not been able to get to the immobilizer or the ECU.

I have managed to open ports with the Bluetooth interface, but there is no way to enter, I have tried the commands you indicated on the last page, there is no way to enter.

In the photos shown you can see the steps taken.

Here in device manager, you can see how the Triumph tool displays. Note that it does not set it as any communications port (COM and LPT).

To continue testing I must order another interface that connects directly via USB to the COM ports.

I assume your program is written in Delphi. I got stuck with Visual Basic 6.

That's exactly what I'd expect to see if you try using the Triumph XS interface as it's not supported.

You can use USB or Bluetooth OBD interfaces with TigerTool but, as-per the comments on the first page of the instructions, they MUST be ELM327-based (such as the one used by Dealertool), hence why your Triumph XS interface does not work.

Please also note the comments about poor quality cheap clone ELM327 interfaces that don't properly support some of the basic ELM327 commands.

This is the interface I use:
Bluetooth OBD2 Diagnostic Scanner Tool, Can-Bus Code Reader Auto Accessories OBDII Mini ELM327 for Android Windows.

Yes, I imagine that as the comments say it must be because of the poor quality components.

When the other interface arrives, I'll try again.

Your Bluetooth interface should at least be able to connect to the ECU if the correct port is selected (there is often more than one port assigned to the Bluetooth interface in Windows). The quality issue is mainly a firmware related one where certain basic commands (e.g. AT D) are not supported.

That said, a few people do have some issues getting the Bluetooth interfaces to work reliably.

If you have Hyper Terminal or any other similar Winows terminal applications you can try talking to your interface directly using the 'AT Z' and 'AT I' commands to check for a response. That way you'll at least know that you have the correct port. Most also run at 38400 baud, for reference.

Also worth noting that the ignition and engine kill switches must both be on.
