Summer 2021 GTG With The Twisted Trophies

    Okay let’s get Started!!

With some input it looks like people are wanting to go to the south western corner of South Dakota,, Black Hills National Forest , Custer State Park and Wind Cave National Park.
All of this is just miles from Rapid City SD.

    Now the time line.
The 4th of July is a busy time for travel and lodging.

So let’s say we use the week of June 13th to 19th as the closest before the 4th and July 11th to July 19th as the closest after the 4th.

Then there’s August the first part as the nearer we get to September weather could be a factor. :821:

Saddle Tramp was talking about a little place in Arizona Cave Creek that we could all go.
If we do we need to make sure we have a Twisted Trophy Tee shirt to wear.   :017:

So Cave Creek is a bad idea as there’s another group that call’s that home and doesn’t like to see others in their area.

It would be to Hot any way. 🥵

The timing would be perfect for you guys to ride to Wakefield, Michigan on the 9th and do an IBA SS1K on the 10th - Please see my thread.

I'll be in Alaska some time in August.  I would think June would be the most agreeable weather.

Wakefield is practically in my back yard, and I’m not against another SS1K, but there is no way that you will find me riding around the U.P. in the dusk, dark, or dawn. In my experience, that’s a modified game of Russian Roulette, what with the large mammal population up there...

Just call me a wimp. I’m fine with that, but I’ve also got the seven titanium ribs to support my decision.  :038:

Depending on what happens with this Pandemic, you might see my Buddy Tony and I up there on our GS’ if you decide to venture off the Cruise Ship.  :745:

    Saddle Tramp:

When I did the All Yooperland myself in 2019, my riding buddy Trevor from Ontario and I saw only 18 deer on the ride - 5 in the morning and the rest at night.  We only had one close call. With my spots, I usually can spot them before they are close.  At night most of the deer were feeding on the side of the road and didn't move at all as we rode past. Towards the end of the ride at about midnight,  a couple on a H-D that we saw in St. Ignace said they had counted 35, "so far" on their ride.

Same thing out west this year when three of us did a SS3K, but now we are talking mule deer, not those tiny white-tails than we have in Michigan & Wisconsin.  We saw 2 big bucks that had huge racks on that ride.

On last year's All Yooperland SS1K, a Rider did hit a deer that morning about 30 minutes after the ride started, but thankfully wasn't seriously injured and was able to ride his GSA back to the Soo where the ride started.

I would like to give you a link to the ADV Forum about these rides, but that is against this Forum's rules.

Gee, my wife always encourages me to do more IBA rides.  Many I better think about that more .......

You and Tony are more than welcome to ride up Friday for dinner & the meeting and meet some of the Riders.  I won't be doing the ride this year because I will need to check-in the Riders at the end of the rides.  I may ride up to Duluth and visit Aerostich Saturday morning - never been to the store.
