    First Trophy impressions
    on: Sep 30, 2020, 04.26 am
    Sep 30, 2020, 04.26 am

Picked up a 13 TTSE a few days ago, and rode it back 7 hours home. Never had even sat on one , let alone rode one. Did a lot of research and even though a couple BMWs tempted me, the Trophy won my affection.

Really enjoying it so far, even though a 7 hour drive was a bit much on the maiden voyage. First time using it on my 80 minute commute this morning left me very impressed. The two FJRs and Concours 14 I had previously didnít offer the wind protection the Trophy does, it was 43 degrees out and the Trophy handled it like a champ.

    Here are some initial observations:
Headlight dims significantly with clutch in
Radio sometimes turns on by itself when stopped
Gas gauge takes a while to update after filling.
Throttle is very sensitive with cruise engaged

Iím looking into some heavy bar ends to reduce some vibration as well as having a place to rest my hand while cruise control is engaged (big hands) ... any recommendations? Is it a 1Ē or 7/8?

Sounds like me! After months of research, looking at K bikes, FJR"s and the Honda ST1300 (2012 was older than I wanted) bought mine, site unseen, from a dealer in another state and had it shipped to Georgia!
In the end, everything I was looking for and then some! :028:

Concerning the radio, there is an updated software version needed, that may be the problem. The resident experts I'm sure will answer your other concerns.

Also, there is a recall on this bike for the ignition switch and wiring.

Fit Grip Puppies to your Trophy's grips. Reduces vibration, opens up your hand grip whilst still allowing the heat through if you have heated grips fitted. Cheers.  :821: :158:

Hi puttyandnapalm and :400: to the Club !

    Initial Observations :

Headlight dims significantly with clutch in
This is not uncommon, but check that the electrical connections at the Battery, and also within
the Main Fuseholder ( clipped to the top of the Battery ) are clean and tight with no corrosion.

Radio sometimes turns on by itself when stopped
It shouldn't do that but I've not heard of it before.
Do check that the latest Audio Firmware update ( Version 1.04A ) has been applied though,
which can cause Battery Drain problems.  See this Topic : Does anyone know what the latest version of the software is?

Gas gauge takes a while to update after filling.
This is quite normal and explained on Page 34 of the Owners Handbook.
( After refilling, depending on riding style, updating can take up to 5 minutes ).

Throttle is very sensitive with cruise engaged

Do you mean the function for rolling the throttle forward to disengage the Cruise control ?
You may find it beneficial to fit "Grip Puppies" or "Grip Buddies" over the handlebar grips,
where the increased diameter ( in my experience ) canmake it easier to control the throttle.

They may also help with the other problem you mention rather than heavy bar ends -
They are Neoprene cushioned covers that increase the diameter of the grips and make them softer to grip.
For me these really help ( with my aging bones ) to improve the comfort
by not needing to close my hands so much, and the softer grip reduces the "buzz"
that can be felt if you grip the bars too tightly.  It takes a few seconds longer for the Heat
from the Heated Grips to come through, but they still work to my satisfaction.

Click the Link in my Signature below for details of the Ignition Switch Recall.  :028:

    Cheers  :821:

:400: to the forum.  You may want to post in the "New Members" section to introduce yourself to the entire group of members.  R&G makes some heavier than stock bar ends that do help some.  I fitted a set and prefer them over the stock bar ends.

Need to be careful where you rest your hand on the right side because of the kill switch location.
