I keep asking myself.......Why did I spend good money on a tool that I cannot just plug in to my laptop and it will work????
This thing is useless! NEVER AGAIN! It worked once, 2 months ago, and now when I connect it I get friggin' messages telling me to update the driver??? WTF!

What did dealertool say when you reported the problem?

It seems this is a commonly reported problem.
Previous Topics have suggested that the Drivers provided with the Software must be used,
and that "Windows" ( if allowed to ? ) automatically updates the Drivers to a version
that is not compatible with the DealerTool device.
I have no experience of using Windows 10, but on my Windows 8.1 machine,
I have disabled Automatic Updates to ensure that no new drivers are added.
I always use the same USB Port, and set the Laptop to Airplane Mode when using DealerTool
as an extra safety measure to ensure the Drivers aren't "updated".
The latest Versions ( 2.5 & 2.6 ) of the DealerTool device ARE advertised
for use with Windows 8 / 10, and I know there are Members
using the Windows 10 platform successfully with the DealerTool device.
In my experience the guys at DearTool Tech Support have always been very helpful in sorting out
any problems, but this does seem to be a recurring issue that hasn't yet been overcome.
If you can get it functioning it is a very useful Maintenance tool.
Cheers

I feel your pain Suzukiguy guy, it is a pain in the rear end to use on a Win10 machine, I've kept it on my old XP laptop for that reason.
On my Win10 laptop it doesn't seem to matter if you disable the driver updates, when you get a major update of the whole system, that seems to override that and you are back to square one.
I have got it working again, it just takes a lot of faffing about and if like me you ain't exactly a PC geek, it's certainly frustrating. When you do get it working, make sure that you use that exact USB port next time, if you happen to plug it into another one on the laptop, you are back to square one again, that I do know.
Dealertool is good once you get it to work and the guy's are helpful but I'd urge them to go for another interface next time please.

Firstly, I can understand Suzukiguy's frustration at this, but I must say that Dealertool most certainly isn't junk and their customer support is usually excellent.
However....from what I can gather the driver problems with Dealertool began when they changed their ELM327 OBD2 interface lead supplier and the new leads (V2.5 & V2.6) used the Prolific PL-2303 USB interface chip, or possibly a clone of that chip. There have been many cases of problems with that chip, not just with Dealertool - Google "pl2303 code 10 fix" for more examples.
The latest Dealertool V3.0 leads for use with their software version 6.50a use WCH's CH340 interface chip, which may well prove to be more reliable.
I've had issues with several ELM327 leads and have replaced the USB interface chips myself for known genuine parts and all have worked perfectly since. I've also replaced the fake ELM327 chips in them for genuine versions to allow full use of the ELM's command set for TigerTool development.
...we are reviewing telemetric information in our mission simulator and will advise...

These post are exactly why I say it is junk!
I, and many others, purchased a tool that should be "plug and play" and we should not have to keep an old laptop, reset drivers, change ports, etc for it to work!
Their customer service emails the same thing every time, reset the driver! And it's my computer updating that's the issue!
I say it is a piece of junk!

My Dad would often tell me, “you get what you pay for”.
Given the relatively inexpensive cost of the DealerTool vs. the Triumph Factory alternative, what do you expect?
Like others here, every time I need to Service my Trophy, I end up having to contact DealerTool for support. An ideal situation? Of course not. But, with that said, I am always ultimately able to access and reset my Trophy’s computer.
In my case, I am probably as much to blame for my relative computer incompetence as DealerTool is for their relatively inexpensive diagnostic tool.

There's an interesting Microsoft Support Article, where Microsoft acknowledge that certain Devices
may be adversely affected by Windows 10 Automatic Driver Updates, and they have provided
information on how to "Roll Back" a troublesome Driver, and then "Hide" devices and prevent
such automatic updates from being applied using a Downloadable Tool :
How to temporarily prevent a driver update from reinstalling in Windows 10
As stated previously I don't have Windows 10, or this problem,
but the above may be useful for those that do !
Cheers
