It's certainly a Windows 10 thing but we are stuck with it, it's the latest and modern thing sadly.
It's a bit short sighted of any company not to make their product plug & play with it from this point forward though.

    Think we got your point!

Bought a refurbed Dell running windows 10 for $200 (I've run Dealer tool once on it) no problem. Knew about Windows drivers issues and postponed updates....problem is, Windows 10 will only let you postpone updates for so long.

Got an older Clevo/Sager laptop, running Win7 ( Win 7 and XP were microsofts best OS and they should have left well enough alone) that I'll install Dealer Tool on, turn updates off and should have no problems!

I have Windows 10 running on a Geo Netbook. Dealertool works fine.

This is not a dealer tool issue, but a windows update one. MS deletes/changes drivers and then dealer tool will not work through no fault of their own. My experience is that is if you contact them they will normally get back to you same day with the resolution.
Before you kick them under the bus try asking.

Hence my dedicated motorcycle laptop. A Win7 computer that will never connect to the internet.
Problem solved easy so I can use the Dealertool diagnostics and Devices.

Unfortunately for dealer tool you need an internet connection to activate the software and register your bikes ecu so it will work.

Only initially. I simply reinstalled Dealertool on a laptop with Win7 from the disc and re entered the authorization numbers. It was on my desktop which is the laptop I originally used and had issues with because of Win10. Simple reinstall via disc and re-enter the numbers. Done.
