New TPMS Unit
« on: October 17, 2020, 04:38:32 pm »
Looks like we’ve a new TPMS sending unit that replaces older units. After doing a bit of research I’ve ID-ed the sequence of units released by Triumph. Here are the part numbers with comments:

     T2504060           Original - battery replaceable
     T2504162           Sealed unit CR-2032 battery
     T2504220           Sealed unit CR-2050 battery
T2504280.          New design - sealed unit

I do not know when each was released but as best I can tell, the sequence above is correct.

Here is a picture of and old unit (long with rounded nose) and the new unit which is much smaller:

Here’s a closeup of the new unit. The hole at the leading end and points in the direction of normal tire rotation. The tire valve no longer has threads but it does have a tongue and the unit has a groove, so don’t force them together when installing. The fit is snug. Its all tied together with a T15 torx screw tightened to 2.1 N-M.

Enjoy!

PS I’ll get the pictures squared away once I learn how to use the application.

Very interesting - that new Part Number doesn't show up on the UK World of Triumph website,
or on any other Triumph parts site I've looked at for the Trophy SE ( yet ? ! ).

For the Photos - Once you have a Photo in your Forum Gallery,
you just need to copy the Link next to the "BBCode for Forum Posts",
which starts with "img" surrounded by Square brackets,
and ends with "/img" surrounded by Square brackets.

Just copy the whole line and paste it into your Forum Post  :028:

Alan, I had to dig around to find it too. AdeptPowersports has a reference:

     http://www.adeptpowersports.com/oem-parts/triumph-sensor-tpms-90-deg-434-hz-t2504280-part.html

I’d also used bikebandit for the other reference:

     https://www.bikebandit.com/oem-parts/detail/triumph/t2504220/b4428878?m=155995&sch=807374

WRT the pictures, they are too large so I’ll have to scale them down a bit. Not the first time that I’ve run into this issue. Its a heck of a lot easier to do picture editing on a Windows PC than on an Apple iPad.

Anyway thanks for the advice.
Chuck

Going by the picture of the new design, it looked like the battery can be seen through that hole? Wouldn't it be nice if there were a removable cover on the other side to be able to replace it when it goes flat. No chance of that I suppose. :084:

Not a prayer! I think what you see is a temperature and pressure sensor. I too wish that they’d manufacture a unit that had a replaceable battery. It would make life easier but that just might cost a couple more pennies(darned accountants)!

And affect their parts sales to electronic component hacker wizardry.  Then they would be left with just the non hackers as customers for new sensors.

Not much information, but here's the manufacturer's page for these sensors:-

...we are reviewing telemetric information in our mission simulator and will advise...

On an unrelated issue, a couple of weeks ago I sent an email enquiry
to LDL ( France ), but as yet there has been no reply forthcoming.  :187:
