Seals on the gear lever linkage
« on: October 17, 2020, 08:58:17 pm »

I'm guessing that these are number 5 on here https://www.worldoftriumph.com/collections/100061481-0-2?type=trophy-1215-se

Anyone else had to buy/fit them to their Trophy?

Yep!  The little spring clip keeper on the linkage catches them and tears them.  I consider them to be almost like a consumable part that needs replacing at every service. :009:

Do you pop the the ball out of the socket to replace them then? The hole in these seals go over the ball part??

Thanks, looks like that could be an option worth looking into. :028:

There is a small "clip" which goes through the joint, keeping the ball in place. The assembly can be dismantled for cleaning and lubricating. Yes, the seal goes over the ball part. From memory, I think these seals are £8 each!

Thanks 1675 for confirming where they sit, I know about the clips, never actually pulled them out before though. Yes, I've seen that Triumph want that sort of money for them,......jokers hey. :233:

Next time I service my linkage I'm going to the fabric store and buying some felt and using my plug cutters and hole punch to make my own! :745:  I might even make a really thin flat plastic cover on the clip side to keep it from tearing up the felt seal.
