US / Canadian GPS Mount Install
« on: October 26, 2020, 01:34:51 am »
I'm in the process of installing the Triumph GPS mount on my US model TTSE.  I'm doing a preliminary fitting and it seems like there isn't enough room for the GPS cable to pass through the cut-out once the mounting  "foot" is passed through the cut-out - the antenna wire is being pinched.

There were no installation instructions that came with the kit.  Has anyone installed this US kit ?  What needs to be done as far as re-routing the antenna cable when re-locating the position of the antenna to the plate on the mount so it's not pinched ?

Installation instructions aren’t included with Triumph accessories
as they are available to download from Triumph’s web site.

Alternatively I compiled a list of them
and included Download Links here :

Triumph Accessory Instructions.

I don’t think the instructions will help much with your problem though,
which just say to pass the Cradle and Antenna cables through the “Finisher”
and then attach the assembly to the Instrument Panel Fascia Bracket.

You didn’t say which make and model of Sat Nav you were trying to fit
but these brackets were designed for the Garmin 600 series Sat Nav.

The later 595 Series has a fatter cable harness making it quite tight,
and I would imagine that trying to include the Satellite Radio antenna
cable with a 595 cradle harness would be quite difficult, although on
my own Trophy with a 595 fitted, I have managed to include some
more wires for extra dashboard switches, so it can be done - you have
to push and form the harness wires into the internal curved part
of the bracket so the Finisher can be pushed up high enough for the
assembly to be attached to the Fascia bracket with the 2 small screws.

Hope that helps.  :028:

If your installing a Tom Tom Rider 550, I had to splice a piece of wire, where my crappy blue arrow is, in order to hide the bulky power connector inside the dash.

Thanks for the replies, fellas.  I think what I will do a little bit of filing with a small round file so the cable isn't pinched.

I may not have been clear in my original post.  I'm actually talking about the antenna cable for the original XM antenna, not any cables for the GPS itself.

EDIT :  OK, I think I have it figured out now.  The cable runs between the "forked" mounting foot.  I will have to disconnect the antenna connector and then run the cable through the plastic finishing "ring" that comes with the kit before I attach the mount.

Thanks Coconut for the link to the Installation Instructions !!
