So, the U.S. Postal Service delivered a package from my motorcycle Insurer this afternoon. I am wondering if any of you have heard of this new product for tracking motorcycles.  :187:

Yeah, I used to have Foremost Insurance.  I have little DNA dots in various spots on my bike.  Also warning stickers on the trunk and on the windscreen.  Don't know if it works because I've never had my bike or anything on it stolen.  I've long since changed my insurance carrier.

In the UK we have "DataTag" ( Other brands are probably available ! ).

My Triumph Dealer applied this to my new Trophy at no cost,
and I believe Triumph Dealers in the UK do this to all of their new motorcycles.
Other Manufacturers may do the same.

In addition to the Micro-Dots, they also chemically etch the VIN Number onto some of the Panels,
and insert Micro Transponder chips into the seats that can be read by a Scanner.
Additional Transponders can be purchased and Registered on the National Database
to cater for buying different seats etc.

I have no idea how effective this system is at preventing Theft, but at Zero cost I quite like it !

At zero cost, what you're describing Coconut, would certainly be welcome here.  Unfortunately, that I'm aware of, only Foremost insurance provides the DNA liquid to place the dots.

Etching is probably available at a cost, but probably not at the dealer - likely you'd have to find a local company that does it.

I find it interesting that I have been with Foremost for over eight years, and am just learning about this now, when you were introduced to it some time ago.  :084:

My first reaction was uncertainty whether police forces are actually aware of it, but given that itís free, I guess I canít lose by applying it to both bikes...

    Thanks for the responses.  :821:

Carole Nash also supply DNA kits free of charge and have done for some years.  Obviously, only for new policies.

I had Foremost about 4-ish years ago, for about two years according to my wife.  I received the DNA liquid at the start of the policy.  They were presenting it as a benefit of the policy.
