I need a Top Box for my TTSE
    on: Nov 03, 2020, 10.46 pm
    Nov 03, 2020, 10.46 pm
New to the forum and just picked up my TTSE yesterday.
Located in Australia, I need a top box for this bike.
A question, perhaps, for Australian members of the forum.
Where did you get your top box from if you have one?
Ordered from your local Triumph dealer or source it from overseas?
Or did you just buy a Givi, or such with a universal adapter plate?
I think I would love the color matched factory one but yet to price on it.

    cheers, True Blue...

Good luck with your quest for a top box.

My experience with them is they are very large on the outside but smaller on the inside, a reverse Tardis!  They are also very heavy.  They do adversely effect the handling and because of this I ditched mine (sold on eBay) and use a waterproof bag.  Which is fine for solo riders.

    Just my $0.02
    Love, light, and kindness,

Thanks Dave for the comments. Very interesting.

In no hurry. I know what you mean about the size.

I might check out some other options.

Love your signature by the way. Agree 100%.

    many thanks and happy travels

I rarely ride without mine, but it's a personal choice -
I like the way it is colour coded and integrates with the Trophy design,
and it's practical use, being simple to fit and remove from Bike,
together with having an internal power socket -
useful for Charging devices on the go etc.

They are expensive though, and you also have to factor in
buying the Sliding Carriage Kit ( T2351532 ) onto which they mount.

They are the same Top Box as used on the Sprint GT 1050,
which may help in your quest to find a "pre owned" one.

If you do buy a new one they are supplied without a Lock !

All new Trophy motorcycles were supplied with a spare Lock Barrel,
which used the same key as the Ignition lock, and when buying a pre owned Trophy
these are often not provided, either because they were lost,
or were used in the Owner's Top Box which has since been sold on separately !  :138:

If you buy a pre owned Top Box and do have the spare Lock barrel
it is possible to change them - but it's not easy.

There's a Topic about changing the Lock Barrel here :

HOW TO: Remove the Top Box Lock Barrel ( at last ! )

    Cheers  :821:

    Great response Coconut.

Lots of information and suggestions and very much appreciated.

I did get the spare lock from the previous owner.

I am a bit broke after buying the bike so just have to save up some
    bickies (aussie slang for $'s).

    I do miss having one.

    cheers and thanks again

I've just started packing what I need on trips in waterproof duffels or waterproof backpacks and saved a lot of weight up high by not using the top box.  I could probably shed even more weight by getting one more waterproof duffel and making straps that would hold them on in place of the side cases.  My  zip top submersible waterproof duffel weighs 1.2 lbs, or barely over .5 Kilos for those on the metric.

I rarely use my top box but when I do (long trips), I'm happy it's the Trophy box.  Like Coconut, I like the way it looks and think it complements the bike.  Yes, it could have been designed in a better way and yes, it's heavy, but unlike Dave on the other side of the Tyne, I've not experienced handling issues.  Mind you, I don't do the number of miles he does.  The ability to charge devices in the top box is pretty convenient as the "glove box" isn't big enough to hold anything bigger than a mobile.

I think it has great storage. Holds a least a case of my favorite beverage, (4) 6 packs in sleeves, or a 28 count of 16.9fl oz of water. I use it for touring and installed a wire rack on top of it. I am sure i have exceeded weight recommendations. Always 100% water proof, convenient, easy to attach and remove, integrated keys with ignition and panniers, looks great.
