Non triumph tank bag
« on: September 05, 2013, 12:47:00 pm »
Has anyone fitted a non triumph tank bag. I'm looking for something bigger than the 15 ltr triumph bag.

I haven't tried it, but this might enable you to use any of the Bagster range of tank bags:

Thanks already seen it in the internet but wasn't sure it would fit with all the plastic on the trophy. Has anyone tried the baglux easy road?

I think the problem you will find with any other, non Triumph tank bag is that you won't get full steering lock and even on partial lock you will obscure many of the switches and buttons, particularly on the left hand set..

I'm thinking of this one..
http://www.heldmotorcyclestore.com/Held-Turano-Velcro_AY5Y0.aspx

It is fitted using Velcro at the bottom by the seat and then I was thinking of cutting the top strap and then using the two top tank cover bolts to fix the top clips - saw it on a friends non-triumph bike and it worked really well.

Will go to the bike show at the NEC in November and have a look at one in the flesh and decide from there.

Problem is clearing the handlebars, there is precious little room for the 'nose' of the bag..  I'd love to be able to use the Bagster I had on my ST but there is no way it'd work, unless it was far enough back to clear the bars, in which case it'd not clear my fat belly...  (:>

The handlebar issue isn't as bad as one would think. I have a Bags Connection GS quick lock bag that I used on the Deauville which I've attached a new mounting ring for on the Trophy.

Sure, you limit the steering range, but it is only a practical issue at slow speeds such as when doing a U-turn on a narrow road.

If I didn't have this bag I would definitely go for the Trophy bag, and I still might at some point, but if I was going away for a week or two I wouldn't have any qualms about using my current one.
