Fitting parts to a Trophy

I've noticed over the years of Trophy ownership, that parts purchased for fitment to the Trophy have a parts label stuck on the packaging stating the part number, followed by a warning that the part be fitted by a Trained Triumph technician, so my question is do i have to find a Triumph Technician every time I want to fit my Triumph anti theft U lock, as this warning was on the packaging.

Ignore it Grub's... it's just Triumph squirming out of any possible liability as determined by their Liability Insurers.

I'm tempted to say - If you have to ask the question, the answer is probably YES !

Did ask the question in Youles Triumph dealership while looking at an ABUS granite lock which had Triumphs logo on it, with the sticker saying it should be fitted by a Triumph Technicia, tongue firmly in cheek.

I use the dealership if the bike is still under warrantee or if the job is beyond my capabilities, which are limited.      I can do most basic jobs, service, replace heated grips, fit R&G engine bars, install lowering kit of rear, replace entire breaking system, (Oh that was on a different bike).  Once the warrantee expires I have a local independent garage which is considerably less expensive and and so far offers a great service.  so I have a choice: myself, Triumph or the independent.  I guess it is in Triumph's interest to promote their own service in order to keep their technicians employed and keep their customers coming back.
