Final Drive Skipping?

Lately I've been having issues when under hard acceleration.  I was thinking it was just time for air filter/spark plug maintenance.  However, when I grab the clutch and rev the engine it sounds fine.  Because this happens in all gears, I started thinking it may be a final-drive issue.  Has anyone experience the final drive skipping?  How would I inspect this?

I've not heard of anyone having a problem like this
that was associated with the Final Drive "skipping".

There have been a couple of Members report Gearbox issues,
where a Gear would momentarily jump out of engagement,
under acceleration, one notable Topic is this one :

Jumping out of gear.

That problem may be addressed by the Gear Selector Mechanism modification
that is discussed here :

Of course this may or may not be your problem -
It is so difficult to diagnose something like this remotely,
but it should give you some ideas to think about,
and maybe discuss with a Triumph Dealership.

Here's an idea/thought, drain and inspect the oil in the drive shaft unit,...hopefully you won't find any metal particals in it.

Thanks for the quick replies.  I rode in to work again tonight.  I really paid attention to what the bike was doing.  I will definitely check the driveline oil because at about 44K miles, I'm not sure when it was done last.  I am, however, going back to my original idea. I think it might be as simple as a dirty air filter. It's kind of nosing over under quick application of throttle (but only under load, like when riding on the road, not just reving it in neutral).  This would make sense as it would mean the engine is overloaded with fuel for a split second while the air continues to catch up.  Regardless, it's time for some maintenance.  Because of all the word to do the air filter, I'm going all out and doing air/fuel filters, plugs, and probably check the valves while I'm at it.

You may want to think about replacing the fuel hose that lives inside the fuel tank with the fuel filter then. Since Triumph HQ have raised the issue of modern fuel and possible degrading of an hose that's submerged 24/7 in it.

At  44K miles, I would replace the inline fuel filter inside the tank and inspect the "sock' filter at the inlet side of the fuel pump.  After removing & draining the old inline filter,  try blowing through it to determine if it is clogged up.  You can compare it with a new filter.  I'm pretty sure a standard 5/16 " metal auto fuel filter will work just fine if you also replace one of the hoses since the auto fuel filter is a little shorter than the OEM filter.  You must use fuel line that is rated for submersible use.  It's expensive, but you will save a bunch buying the auto fuel filter.

Last year, on my 2008 C-14 Concours with only 20K miles, I discovered the fuel sock was coated with black gunk.  It's a common problem with the C-14 that will give similar symptoms as you are having, BTW.

I don't quite understand what you mean by: "I've had trouble accelerating hard lately."

It could be that you have problems with the clutch and it reaches a point that it slips and loses friction.

It could be due to friction plates, steel plates, pressure plate, or even the outer drum.

digital: just saw this.  It's not slipping like the clutch is going, it's more of a stutter like I'm losing spark.  I currently have the bike torn down for maintenance.  Plugs, Oil/Fuel Filters, valve shims.  It was time anyway and this will rule out some things.
