    Bluetooth Interference with Engine Running

    Hi,

Tried to search for this, but it seems that my problem is slightly different to a weak Bluetooth Signal.

I have paired my Sena 20S to the bike, and it connects absolutely fine, and I was impressed by the sound clarity coming through the helmet speakers from the bike's signal, until I started the engine!

With the engine running the reception was appalling, but satnav and phone audio to the Sena were fine!

    Has anybody had similar experience?

DAB radio?  Do a search for DAB radio if that's what you have and there are a number of threads involving making it work.

I'm not totally clear on what your probem is ....

With the engine running the reception was appalling.....

    The reception of what ?

Is the Interference being encountered at your Sena 20S
when an Audio source such as the FM Radio is being listened to ?

What Audio Source is selected ( AM / FM / LW / USB / NAV / Bluetooth Player )
at the time the appalling reception is encountered ?

If, for example it is "NAV", and the poor reception / Interference is heard
as soon as the engine is started, even when no Audio is being transmitted,
what happens if the Sat Nav device is switched off - does the Interference stop ?

It is recommended that the dedicated NAV Power supply ( which is "clean" )
is used for powering Sat Nav devices, to prevent line borne interference
that might occur if other circuits are used.

If that's not the problem, do you have any other accessories that have been fitted,
such as Lighting etc. or anything other than a Media Player connected to the USB Socket
that could be causing the interference, and which could be checked
by switching them off to see if the interference stops ?

    Cheers  :821:

I'm guessing the phone is connected to the gps and the gps serves as one connection to the Sena.  That connection works fine.  A second connection directly to the Trophy bluetooth is the problem.  The Trophy bluetooth on my bike has never worked.  I tried pairing with a Cardo, a Uclear and a couple other headsets and could never get a decent connection.  Sometimes I could get a decent connection for a short time but nothing dependable.  This was true for ipod, fm, Sirius or nav.  The audio was always in and out.  Maybe electrical interference or vibration is causing a bluetooth problem in some bikes.

What I've discovered with my phone paired to the headset and the Trophy paired to the headset separately is the possibility that "notifications" on the phone are doing that to the audio.  I can certainly verify that they do that to my new hearing aids that are bluetooth connected to my phone.  I had never considered that until I got new hearing aids and noticed it.  It doesn't happen to me a lot since not many people have my cell number and I don't get a lot of notifications or messages.

    A bit of an update.

Firstly I should have worded my original question more clearly, if i connect the bike audio system (FM Radio) to the Bluetooth headset, without the engine running the connection is perfectly clear, however with the engine running the reception Bluetooth connection is suffering interference.

Having taken on board some of the suggestions people have made, I have now proved that the LED headlamps that I have fitted are what is causing this problem. I have emailed the suppliers to find out if this is an issue they are aware of, and to ask for their recommendations.

    Thanks for the update.  :028:

I thought it might be something like that.

At least it's not something wrong with your Trophy !   :821:
