Cost of 20K Service in the US? What Has Our Members Paid?

Looks like I found a good deal on a 2014 SE but it needs the 20k service,at least the 10K was done.I got a quote from a local dealer of $1500....That seems steep but fair considering 2-3 hrs of that could be fairing removal/install,valves,FI,ECU and fluids...I would pay normally do all my own work but since I would want to get all recalls done which I believe  none have,I figured I would bite the bullet for the 20K for peace of mind and do the 40K myself...
No guesses, just looking for actual invoice prices from dealerships...
    Thanks

     :400:

I just had the 4-year and 20k items done on my 2015, plus new tires mounted. $1100. I didn't need brake and clutch flushes - had those done last year when a front disk was replaced. Everything else was done, including a valve adjust - mine were right at the tightest possible bit of acceptable, so they loosened them a tiny bit. Also had the fuel line and filter replaced - fuel line is a 4-year item, and if you're in there, the filter is right there...

You might ask them for a breakdown of what they're doing for their money - my dealer was more than happy to email me a quote that showed everything they were doing. Oh, and they picked up and delivered the bike for that as well - that was $180 (I'm an hour away and it's very snowy still up here - that was cheap!).  :190:

Ya they said $1500 was an estimate, assuming clearances can affect the final by a few hours and couldn't take it until mid-May so didn't get in to details, but will go over it or get a written breakdown when I get closer, but having someone else's experience certainly gives me reference.
    Thanks!

The recalls should be done at no cost.  So you could do all the 20K service yourself and then bring the bike in for the recalls.

I'm in the process of doing the 20K service myself.   It's mostly labor - removing everything to get at the cam cover to do the valve clearance check & adjust.  It takes a few special tools.  My friend has an Explorer XC with the same engine/trans and he already had them.  So I "rented" them from him.   I had to replace 10 shims - 2 intakes were on the low end of the range, so I set them in the center and all the exhausts were either too tight or at the low end, so I set them all near the top of the range.

Instead of buying a new fuel line, I made up my own using the proper fuel line and "pinch" clamps.  I used the old connectors but have since bought some new connectors off EBay for next time.

I think mine came to $1,200 when I added it all up, but my Dealer allowed me to supply all the parts and fluids, which saved me a substantial amount. The Mechanic told me that the Trophys usually go a long distance before needing another adjustment, so I had him set all of the tolerances to the center of the range.

I’m coming up on the 40k Service soon, and plan to perform that one myself.

My 40k is also due soon and I will do it at home.  Got the Trophy SE maintenance kit on line for about $130.  Already have the oil and filter anyway.  So hopefully total cost will be under $200 and a weekend of work.

That's the difference between paying a shop and doing it at home.
