Only recently came across this newer variant and wondered if any other owners had tried them and had opinions / feedback / comparisons on how they rode and are lasting?

I've always used PR3's as replacements and while I've been happy with the performance and wear, technology moves on and these seem to be getting good feedback with respect to grip, particularly for wet weather riding, always a bonus in our part of the world  :038:

Hmm - this is another one that immediately pops up and says "this won't fit your Trophy" even though they come in the right size and spec. Looks like it'd be great for a long trip that could involve dirt roads, sandy spots, etc.

Yes, though I've seen one review of them being used, apparently with very good results, on BMW RT's. I haven't checked if that fitment is approved, hence the question.  :187:

I don’t know if it’s an issue of being able to fit on the Trophy, or that Dunlop feels that they offer a different tire that better suits the Trophy’s sport touring mission, such as the Roadsmart IV. I think your comment is spot on that it appears that the new Mutant tire would be a great choice if one plans to do any riding on gravel roads, given its designation as a 90/10 tire. On the other hand, if there are no plans for riding on anything but pavement, I would agree with Dunlop’s recommendation that you pick a different tire, as I suspect that there will be a mileage penalty for the more aggressive tread pattern...

That was what I was concerned about in asking. The report was by a UK Blood Bike Rider (UK Police trained) who had been used to riding the same bike with Roadsmart tyres.

    Found it

Thing is, the Roadsmart IV also comes up as not fitting the Trophy - just the RS3. I can't see any differences in them as far as size, load spec etc.

    That makes no sense whatsoever.
Perhaps it's because the Trophy is no longer produced?  :027:

I had some dunlop mutants on a 690 supermoto and very good they were. But nothing for a trophy!! Even on a supermoto they only lasted 2000 km .
