1st Post, so I hope this is the right place.
My 98 Trophy 1200 has a very bad misfire. A local workshop checked valve clearances, cleaned the carbs, changed plugs and the pickup coil.
Checking temps on the exhaust headers show cylinder 1 is bearly warm as the others get hot.
I've swapped ht leads and the 2 Gill coils mounted on the frame. One suggestion is the igniter, hence I brought the same type from Ebay as a "tried and tested" unit, but no difference (i.e. new igniter has the same fault or the fault is elsewhere).
Today I ran a check with an ohmmeter. The 2 LT terminals on each coil measured very high, however the 4 LT leads *to* the coils measured very high on 3 and approx 2K on 1 lead (on the side thats connected to cyl 1).
If anyone has an old Trophy and an ohmmeter can they do me favour and try reading the resistance between the disconnected LT wires going to the HT coils and the frame. Or can anyone offer any suggestions.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Chriss217,

This Forum is dedicated to the latest Trophy model ( 2012 onwards ),
although everyone is welcome here, and discussions on Triumph Models
other than the latest Trophy can ( and should - to avoid any confusion )
be held in this Section : "On Two Wheels - Bikers Chat"

Consequently , the availablity of our Members to help with advice, or spare parts will be limited.

There are also other Forums and Groups dedicated to the previous Trophy Model,
that you might find more helpful - Google "triumphrat.net/trophy 3 & 4" and  check
    Facebook for Triumph Trophy Groups.

    Cheers  :821:

Thanks for the reply and suggestion to a different forum.
I read the forum information and followed its instruction to post under the sub-forum "On Two Wheels".

If this is not the correct sub-forum then I suggest making the information clearer.

The more likely issue here is the fact that this Forum is dedicated to a different motorcycle than the one you own, as Coconut tactfully tried to tell you.

Where you posted your inquiry is secondary to that fact.  :038:

    Thanks ST.
I didn't mean to sound rude. I had read on one of the first pages it states: "This Forum is dedicated to the latest Trophy model ( 2012 onwards )... discussions on Triumph Models other than the latest Trophy can be held in this Section : "On Two Wheels - Bikers Chat", and this was as mentioned by Coconut. As I have a Trophy pre-2012 I was following the guidelines and seeking help from that sub-forum as recommended.

The suggestion by Coconut to search on Triumphrat.net came across as "don't bother here unless you've got a new bike". I did try searching on Triumphrat.net but did not find anything suitable.

We don't want to give the impression that we don't care. It's more the reality that we just don't know. I hope you can resolve your issues. No motorcycle is fun when it's not running properly.

    Chriss217,

I'm sorry that you misinterpreted my initial Message as not caring.
( Something no-one has ever accused me of in here before ! )

My message was an attempt to explain WHY this Section of the Forum should be used,
and offer help as to where else you might be able to find the answers you need.
The Rules of this Forum do not permit Links to be posted to other Groups or other Forums.

    Good luck with that.  :028:

Because I DO care, I just Googled " Triumph Trophy Owner Forum" for you,
    and easily found, "triumphtalk.com/threads/triumph-trophy-900-1200.384"
which might be more productive in providing help.  :015:
