Fault code C1831
« on: May 07, 2021, 12:08:39 am »
I have had my bike checked by the dealer as the TES has stopped working. Fault code C1831 came up and they have been unable to fix. Does anyone know what to do to fix the problem.

Did they tell you what it is?  If they didn't, it's a suspension preload motor end of travel fault.  The service manual says disconnect the negative battery terminal connection for 2 minutes, reconnect it and turn the ignition on and wait for it to reinitialize which could take up to 60 seconds and then adjust the suspension with the electronic controls.  If that fails, contact Triumph.  I PRESUME since they are a dealer they did all that.  No indication what Triumph's solution would be.  I would bet member Digital has a better handle on a solution than I could ever imagine.

Thank you for your reply, the dealer did what the manual stated with no luck, so they have no idea on a fix.
I have also send an enquire to Triumph UK for assistance, I thought I had track the problem to the TES module but I need to be sure before I go pulling the bike a part as parts are not cheap.

I thought they should have done all that, but we never know with some dealers.  Parts are definitely not cheap.  If it's the suspension unit that needs a rebuild there are some reasonable alternatives in the UK, but I'm not sure about your part of the world.  Don't know if ebay would be any help or not.  Hopefully Digital has an answer once again.  He'll be around soon I'm sure.

Thanks trophied.

As trophied has well indicated, it is like a career end.

To solve your problem, I would need you to do some checks that I would indicate.

The checks are based on the electrical part of the motorcycle and electronics.

I forgot to say, if you're on the computer, turn on the speakers.
