2021 Iron Butt Rally

Leaving 6/14 to head out to Provo, UT for the start of the 2021 edition of the Iron Butt Rally.  For those not familiar the IBR is an 11-day endurance scavenger hunt across the USA and Canada.  Of course, this year will be limited to the lower 48 USA as the border is still closed.  Typically riders cover around 11,000 miles during the event.

The event begins at 10am sharp on Monday, 6/21 and will finish at 8am on Friday, 7/2 (all times MDT).  Start and finish in Provo, UT.

Two years ago there were 4 Trophies in the event and all 4 finished.  This time around, as far as I know, I am the only Trophy in the mix.  It's notable that I am not using my 2015 Trophy that I used last time as it developed a charging system issue back in April and I had no guarantee that it would be fixed in time for the event.  Fortunately, a sweet low mileage 2016 was for sale just 40 miles north and I got it for a very reasonable price.  I moved all my farkles over to the new bike and am ready to head out for the event.

How many miles did you have on the 2016 bike have on it when you picked it up?

My 2015 went into the shop with 93k miles.

The 2016 had just under 15k when I got it.

93,000 - that’s pretty impressive for a 2015 bike! Obviously no stranger to IB events 👍
