Leaking front fork seal

Good evening everyone.
I have a 2013 standard model which has just started leaking oil from the front left side fork, which I discovered at the start of a trip. At the end of the 3 day trip this week, it wasn't leaking anymore as the fork was empty.
I really need the bike for a trip in 3 weeks time and contacted the dealer, offering to bring in the fork leg assembly to have them replace the seals for me and I would re assemble the leg into the yokes.
Unfortunately, they have a guy off and are very busy until august.
I feel confident in my abilities as an engineer to make special tools etc and do have a manual.
Question is, has anyone done this job at home without the factory tools? Any problems in doing the job? Was it successful?
Only got 92,000 miles on the bike, nothing seems to last these days!!!!

If there are no obvious dinks or scratches etc. on the forks then it's probably just dirt in the seal...

I'm going to get the left leg out tomorrow and talk nicely to the dealer. Failing that, Firefox will be next.

I have replaced the seal (retainer) of the left shock absorber twice and once the right shock absorber.

The only thing to keep in mind is to remove the retaining washer. With a fine-tipped screwdriver it works out fine.

Once the retaining washer is removed, the seal (retainer) can be removed by poking with any pointed tool and pulling up on the seal (retainer). Then I could easily remove the bright part (stainless steel) and I could extract, seal (retainer), washer, lower cap and upper cap.

To insert the new seal (retainer), you will need to use something similar to the ones sold by Triumph made of nylon, to insert the retainer until the groove where the retaining washer is located is visible. To insert the retaining washer again, it is very easy and it enters without much effort

I have read and re-read the instructions in the workshop manual and going to do it myself.
I will have to make a couple of tools up to assist and have seen drawings of what is required in the manual, so once it is all apart, will be able to get some dimensions.
Whilst I am in there, I may as well grease the steering head bearings, which will require yet another tool, which I will make.

I have the Triumph Service Tool T3880620 ( V Series Socket Adjuster 48mm ), if you want to borrow it,
or I can take any measurements from it that you would need to make one ?
