New Triumph products coming to market

So now Triumph has decided to jump into an extremely crowded market and produce dirt bikes with the intent to be competitive in racing.  I applaud their guts, but have my doubts about how successful they will be among the likes of the Japanese brands that have thrown millions of dollars into that product over the years.  I suppose next we'll get a Moto GP effort, but we'll apparently never see another quality touring machine like the Trophy again from the brand.

Triumph's mission is to make money.  They aren't going to pander to a bunch of old farts like us anymore.  There's nothing to be made from it  :086:

To be fair, if John Bloor’s intention was originally entirely to make money, he wouldn’t have got into the bike building business! 😉

Though we all benefit from it, I can’t see why he ever came back to building tourers, after a 9 year gap, anyway - even Dayglo Derek’s friend, BMW, had turned from being dominated by touring bikes, to being dominated by adventure bikes and “character” roadsters.

Now, what’s this about Triumph building competitive dirt bikes?

‘14 Trophy 1200 SE Ruby Red - 2021 to date
    ‘15 Trophy 1200 SE Silver - 2021 to date
I’m not fussy, as long as it’s built in Hinckley or Solihull and tours, or goes off road, I’m happy!

Email from Triumph with a link to an update on the new developments.  They've hired a couple of world champion riders, Ricky Carmichael and Ivan Cervantes, for motocross and enduro type racing.  In the For the Ride/Racing section on the website.

I agree with Novocastrian, and if you look at al of the manufacturers producing routers, it isn't  a lo g look. I knew something was happening when Honda stopped making the Pan European.
Ah well, I will just have to plug along with the bike I like.

Honda doesn't even show the VFR on their Powersports website any longer either.  It looks like the whole world is going to Adventure models or dirt bikes, with just one type of long distance sport touring type bike being offered by 2 of the major Japanese brands, and then the Gold Wing.  I'm keeping the Trophy because there still isn't anything that compares to it.

Does make you wonder why Benelli and CF-Moto are taking the plunge  :084:

Triumph without a tourer in the line up (Tiger & Explorer good as they are, aren't tourers) just doesn't seem right somehow  :027:
