Well, here goes.....
I first went to Istanbul in 1988 when my new wife and I were on honeymoon on our Kawasaki GTR. 4 weeks away and ended up on Samos in the Greek islands, but not before the perfumed one had bought two carpets (2m x 1m) at the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. We still have them! The customs man just waved us through, shaking his head when I declared them at Dover.
I went again on my Trophy in 2015. Down through Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria and into Istanbul. As Digital says, it gets VERY busy with traffic everywhere. I then went across the Black sea coast and into Georgia and Armenia, before coming back into Turkey and telling my wife (same one) that I was in Kalkan on the south west coast. She flew out next day and we had a week together. Back home via Gallipolli (the Dardanelles), Greece, Macedonia, Albania and Croatia. Fantastic trip. 7 weeks, 9,500 miles (15,000km) and one blown headlight dipped beam in Calais.
Would love to go back again.

1675, I got goose bumps from what you just explained.

Wow! you went back to Istanbul for the second time.

At night it is like a magical city with so much colorful lighting. Not forgetting the Turks who are very welcoming. With their businesses they help each other mutually.

Since you mentioned the Greek border, we had problems on the way back to Greece.

On the ferry we met an Italian biker with his Africa Twin motorcycle and he told us that he was traveling through Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, etc. and that he only had problems on the Greek border. All because of the pandemic for almost two hours held at the border.

I was lucky! I went 6 years ago before covid was even heard of.
I really would like to do the trip again as we love Turkey and it's people.
