Riding the Appalachians
« on: August 03, 2021, 01:11:14 am »
Took a few days to dash down to Marion, TN through West By God, VA mostly on RT 16.  That's one loooong, nice, fookin' road.  Starts at St. Mary's WV and basically goes to Georgia.  The 30 or so miles north of Marion VA is called the Back of the Dragon.  What a hoot!  It rivals RT 29 at Deal's Gap.

Went with a couple of buddies.  One on an older KZ1000 Kawi and the other on a newer KTM 1250 GT - one of those 185 HP whiz bangers.  The Trophy impresses them both.  I actually out pace them, and they've been hard riders and racers for 45 years or so.

Enjoy with the two friends and those good roads.
Only motorcyclists know why dogs stick their head out the car window.

Rode the Dragon Back part of route 16 this past May, great ride! Next time you come down thru West Virginia, route 20 from Buckcania to Route 64, another great ride.

I take at least one long ride in WV every year.  There isn't a bad road in the state.  Rode 219 on the northbound leg this year.  Yet another great road.
