    hi!

    Is it normal that when I press the rear tyre at the following position, I feel a small movement or mechanic play (just 1mm or less)? I feel this if the bike is on the central stand.



    Could this be something related to the cardan/drive shaft? Bike had the drive shaft oil fluid recently replaced (26.000km)

    The three I have are 7,800 miles, 13,500 miles, 14,000 miles and an Explorer with 19,000 miles.

    All have this to some extent, itís the way they are 🙄

    Ď14 Trophy 1200 SE Ruby Red - 2021 to date
    Ď15 Trophy 1200 SE Silver - 2021 to date
    Iím not fussy, as long as itís built in Hinckley or Solihull and tours, or goes off road, Iím happy!

    Try to get someone to put a dial gauge on it to get a repeatable reading with the hub in different positions as feelings can be a bit subjective. Even then it really needs to be checked against service limits measured as factory specified to be meaningful, I confess I haven't checked.

    As RedMerle says, and has several Trophies, it is within the norm, as long as it is that minimum game.

    I have exchanged two tapered boxes for new ones and they always have some play.

    I have already discussed this with some trophy holders in Spain, who said that they shouldn't have any games at all.

    All bearings, bearings, pinions, etc., must have a small play, if this were not the case and there was no play, their grooves would break (in the case of the conical cardan). So if you notice that it has a millimeter or less, as he says. In that sense, you should not worry.

    If the excess of play, it is something else, if it is necessary to ensure well since then, if it is worrying.

    As mentioned already above, you need to measure at the rim with a DTI and keep a regular check on the play.
    I think mine was about 0.2mm.

    Thanks all for the input! Greatly appreciated. I will definitely try to mesasure the play with a proper tool.  For now, I stopped by a Triumph dealership that assured me this amount of play is normal. They even showed the same play on a Tiger 1200 (2018).

    Found same problem on mine (2015) 80000km
    I remove rear wheel and found a big play between rear disk support and end of cardan. No play on cardan.
    I get an appointment with Triumph on 14 September to check. I will let you know.
    Mine is near 2mm .I stop driving with it.

    Rear bevel need to be change.
    After a full service at 64000km, i ask to check the rear wheel rear disk and caliper,everythink was ok said
    Triumph in Avignon.
    At 76000km lot of play at rear wheel (5mm) at least.
    Triumph keeps machine(too dangerous to drive.
    Triumph says you have to change complete rear bevel and rear disk that will  cost me 2200 euros.
    In 12000km rear bevel destroy????
    What do you think?
    I ask my self if i will keep this bike???

    Tell me if you think i can ask Triumph about this problem???
