    Cost of Service!

My 2016 TTSE is now due it’s 80,000 mile service and I’m facing 9 hours workshop time at £96/hour; so just shy of a grand.

Why would my equivalent car service be about 1/3rd of this cost?

Am I getting to be an old tight git or are we being shafted?

Discuss, oh and BTW I’m not confident enough to tackle this myself.
    Love, light, and kindness,

    Dave

I suppose it's because everything on a car is just under the bonnet and easily accessible, no fairing removal to get to the engine.
Also, the car will not need any valve clearance checks as they will most likely be hydraulic.
No more than a plug in check, oil and filters change. To put it all into perspective, I got a 4 year/ 60,000 mile service plan for a Mercedes and it was just over £1,100, with roadside assistance and recovery included.
Can you remember when we had motorbikes because they were cheaper to run than cars?

Some of us still use Raleigh Runabouts to remind us of those days, don't we, Gary?   :008:

If it makes you feel any better, I got charged 15 hours for my 20k miles Service, and they had my Trophy for three days.

Sounds like you got a deal!  :027:

:138: Once the fairings are removed, for a mechanical workshop, the work is not as much as it seems ...

    You're not Scottish enough  :017:

    A couple of suggestions.

Try asking them for a fixed price offer. Might just focus their attention during their quiet period.

Would you consider a trusted independent? There's bound to be one in your area with a good reputation, ask around.

Thanks for all the responses and I’ve come to the conclusion it’s the cost of my enjoyment and as if to confirm my acceptance this image popped up!
