    What's the noise...

Firstly, a huge thank you! I've been able to learn much and do much on my new bike (2014) because of this forum.

I'm hearing a faint sound as if my clutch is making contact when I had the bike on the center stand, running, in neutral.

When I draw the hand lever in about 1/4" (6mm or so) the sound goes away.

I did just installed lower footpegs and made adjustments to the foot shifter. Riding the bike all shifting feels super smooth...

    Any ideas?

Does the noise also disappear when the clutch is pulled in all the way ?

If yes,  then  I understand  this noise is not uncommon.  My ‘15 does this and a friend of mine with a ‘13 Explorer XT with the same engine / trans also has it.  He bought  the bike new and now it has over 50K miles on it and the noise hasn’t gotten any louder.   He thinks the noise is caused by the trans gears bouncing back and forth a bit on the  gear shaft (s) when in neutral.

I’m not too concerned.  The trans shifts great up & down.

Just a small pull on the lever (of about 1/4") and the sound is gone, and it says gone when the clutch is pulled in all the way.
I vaguely remember/think that my Tiger 1050 did the same.

    Thanks

I have a similar noise.  almost a slight rattle perhaps.  I suspect it's simple tolerance in the clutch system and when you "load" the clutch it takes up slack or tightens the tolerances quieting the sound.

I would agree with this.  Bike makes noise in neutral unless the clutch lever is pulled in.  It is stuff spinning around with no load on it otherwise and there has to be some play between the clutch discs.

That noise can come from the clutch bearing. Nothing worrisome.
Only motorcyclists know why dogs stick their head out the car window.

Suzuki V-Strom DL1000 and SV1000 models have the standard problem with clutch.
Maybe we have the same problem on TT?
