First Time Replacing Tyres

My head is spinning with all the threads about tyres but I'm not happy with the 5/6 year old Pirelli Angel ST's fitted to the Trophy now.

I have used Pirelli Angel GT's and Michelin Road 5's on other lighter bikes but never touched the heavy duty version.
I don't have much experience with other brands as I have always gone with Angel GT and more recently the Road 5's

Has anybody run the STD version Road 5's or Angel GT 2's and how did they go?

I'm 90kg and ride mostly solo but plan on touring with the wife this summer.

I have no experience with the tires you mentioned, but I have been quite pleased with the Dunlop Roadsmart III Tires, which are currently priced attractively since the IVs have been introduced.

The ST's you've been riding on aren't GT tires, so I'd imagine any other standard tire would be similar.

  My preference would be to go for the Michelin PR 4 Gt tyres rather than the 5's. I know the 5's have deeper water sipes but I'm still not convinced the 5's are better than the 4's.
  I have not tried the 5's but have had four sets of the 4's fitted, all of the GT variety, which have the heavier carcass for the Trophy which is a heavy bike. Saying that I ran 40 PSI in the front and 44 PSI in the rear. The best I got out of a set of 4's was 17,443 kilometres. The front was badly scalloped and the rear was flat, nearly no tread left in the centre. This was probably due to the high k's that I do on less twisty roads. Mostly all my riding is long distance at constant high speed [ not higher than the posted speed limit] riding. IBA style riding.
 Your haven't mentioned whether your on the north or south island, but it doesn't matter. I'm sure most of your riding will be of the twisted road variety. In saying that I'm sure that you might get better wear from your tyres. More overall/even wear across the whole tyre rather than just centre wear as I got.
  Keep in mind that you do require a heavier, in Michelin's case, the GT tyre for your Trophy. Cheers. And good luck with your choice. Your a lucky "bugger" living in NZ with it's stunning roads and scenery.

I have tried a few other brands on my previous K1200GTSE over the years and now on to my second set of Metzeler's on my current TTSE. I feel much more confident in all road conditions with Metzeler. Be sure a reputable tire specialist fits them for you as they are directional and are more likely to be more careful with removal and fitment so no damage is done to your rims.
I had my last set fitted Feb 2021 ride in/ride out at $550 (Auckland)

Front:    120/70 ZR17       Metzeler Z8 Interact – standard specification
Rear:     190/55 ZR17       Metzeler Z8 Interact – “C” specification

Make sure you insist the tyre (tire) fitter removes the end can COMPLETELY before removing the rear wheel, otherwise there is a high risk of damaging the downpipe end from "hanging" the end can on it

Just to throw it out there, you might consider the Metzler Marathon 888 in 200/55 for the rear.  I have about 12k on mine right now just touching the wear bars.  I'm guessing you are well under 10k (miles) on that Angel.
It is more touring oriented, great in the rain.  Still holds the road well enough for me.

On front I am about to install my third Roadtec Z6.  Got this one for only $65 shipped and get similar mileage as the Angel.

It's my humble opinion that most riders will do well with most tires.  There may be some difference in feeling to get used to, but most do the job pretty darn well so try not to overthink it too much.
