    Chimney nut M5 10x15mm
    on: Jan 06, 2022, 07.27 am

A lot of the plastics on the bike are held together using bolts that screw in to M5 10x15mm chimney nuts.
Finding one of these chimney missing, I can’t source a replacement. Triumph don’t recognise them as spares on the Trophy parts catalogue and I can’t find this specification online.
Does anyone know of a source, or have a scrap panel from which one might be salvaged please?
    Thanks!

Are you referring to what Triumph calls "Nut, Captive, M5" part T3350129?  I'm confused as the thread title refers to "Nut" yet in the message you mention "bolts" missing.  I admit in teh USA I've never heard the term "chimney nuts" but the captive nuts have a barrel or chimney threaded portion.

Firstly, thanks for pointing out the error in my first post; I've cleared that up now  :028:

I quite like the description "chimney nut" now you mention it.

Unfortunately, the M5 chimney nut comes in at least two different flange sizes on the Trophy and it's the small (10x15mm) flange size that I'm struggling to find. Sadly, it's not possible to tell from the part number which flange size it is! It's £1.91 for a single nut (!), but it's worth a gamble...

Here’s a photo of each fastener and it’s part number, if that will help...

Ah, one's a "nut" and the other a "Boss"!

From my (questionable) memory, I believe the “captive boss” is only used for the glove box and battery covers...  :084:

Yes, indeed they are the only two different screws to all the others, those two screws, as Saddle Tramp says, are used for the battery cover and glove compartment, they are somewhat longer and have a small yellow and bright color. But I think RedMerle refers to the nuts that you have placed from the photo that you previously inserted.

That looks like the one 👍

The M5 chimney is recognisably outsized in comparison to the flange of the nut.

Time to put an order in 👍
