    OK, the plot thickens ....

I re-checked the Deka catalog and the listing said :   1215 c.c.  2015 Triumph Trophy SE  ABS -  ETX14.  Their "ETX" batteries are all AGM batteries.

So it looks this is an error on Deka's part.  I thought maybe Deka doesn't make a ETX 20 battery, but when I looked at their battery specification section,  they do also make an ETX 20 AGM battery.  But I'm certain the ETX 14 battery will work just fine.

So, I received my new Chinese 14 AH AGM battery yesterday.  I put it on the maintainer overnight and this am the terminal voltage off the maintainer is 13.04 volts which is a little surprising - I thought it would be less.  I know my Fluke meter is accurate. I installed it and it does a fine job turning over the engine - seems about the same as the larger OEM size battery that it is replacing.

I will post periodically how it is performing.  I'm not anticipating having any issues with thi slightly smaller battery.

I think I know why Triumph speced a slightly larger batter than other bikes with similar size engines.  I think it's because of the radio.  I think Triumph ws concerned that an owner may play the battery when the bike isn't running and that might run the battery down too much with a smaller battery to the point where the battery might not be ble to start the baike.
Not a problem in my case since I don't ever use the radio.

    UPDATE :

The ETX 14 battery has worked just fine starting the Trophy since I installed it a few months ago.  It's still installed in the bike and on the maintainer until next spring.  Then I'll see how good it spins the engine over at that time.  We got about 11 inches of snow the last few days, BTW.   The riding season is over for 2022.
