    Passenger backrest and headlights?
    on: May 09, 2022, 02.19 pm

    Hello all,

I purchased a 2013 Trophy SE and want to find a passenger backrest to use for when my daughter rides with me. I have the large hardcase tour pack, but I will never use it. I would much prefer a standard backrest for when she rides with me. I have had no luck finding one.
I'm also in the market to change out the factory headlight bulbs for either HID bulbs or LED's. I'm not a fan of using LED's on twin head lights like this bike has, it seems to blind other drivers at night and I try to be conscious of this because we do ride at night.

I have not had any luck finding a search bar on this forum to see if this has been discussed. My bike came with a bunch of extra accessories in boxes that I will not be using if anyone is interested. I have heated grips, some new horns, rear bag guards and a few other items.

Any help would be appreciated. I came off a 2011 BMW RT1200 and have already noticed there are not as many options for these bikes. I do love that it does not vibrate as much and that is why I switched.

I can't help much with the products you're looking for,
but there's a SEARCH Button up there - Top Left,
on the Black Background main Menu Bar, 2nd from the left !

    Cheers  :821:

    It’s a good choice though!
Not normally a huge fan of LED’s in headlamps designed for halogen bulbs, but these have worked very well on mine and I won’t be switching back 👍

I see the search bar now! Thank you Coconut.

RedMerle, have you had any issues with people getting upset with you at night when you sit behind them at a stop light? Here in the US, we have stoplights everywhere and I have had several interactions with people while sitting behind them at a stoplight and the LED's I put in my BMW were blinding them. I don't know how better to explain this.

You’ve explained it very clearly 👍

Fortunately, the top cut off point of the beam is still sharp and the headlamp beam height is adjustable from the onscreen menu.

I’ve not had any issues yet.

Would you like me to take some photos of the beam cut off this evening?

My neighbour has, very thoughtfully, painted a very white wall on the side of their house, right at the end of my drive 😁

I'm not going to say no if you want to post a picture. I ended up switching to HID's on my BMW because of the LED issues I had. I've read a little that the HID's do not work well on these bike. I might have to do some more research on this. HID's have such a better beam distance.

I think I'm going to have to make my own backrest for this bike. I'm still coming up with nothing.

Update: After using the handy search, I was able to find a write-up on using a rack and backrest for a Triumph Tiger XP. I found one of the items I was looking for in my Post now. Got it ordered and hopefully this will solve my passenger issues.
