I have since called one other dealer, who indicated "around $2000 plus tax". When I told him it sounds expensive he revealed that estimate included valve balancing (adjustment not just inspection) , he said that he had not had a Trophy come through for a. 20,000 that did not need valves balanced.
My estimate included the balancing work.

Just had mine done recently. $1365.xx that included shimming (adjusting) valves.  If I had removed the plastic cladding I could have perhaps reduced the labor costs.  (The Triumph mechanic had not had a lot of experience working on Trophys (Tigers yes, Trophys,no) and he did not enjoy learning how to remove and re-install the cladding.  :008:)

I'm other side of the pond and was quoted £1,100 GBP for the 20k service from our triumph dealership. For reference my annual service which was done yesterday was £214 GBP.

That sounds a bit much for the 20k service.  I just had the 100k service completed and none of the previous have been over $1200.  A few valve shims had to be replaced each time.

The dealership I'd gone to for an estimate displayed a misleading placard on the service depo wall. Labor Rate is $86 in large font. Below it, in a small font "half-hour" with a minimum charge of a half hour.

And estimate was roughly $1800 and change.

At least they don't mark up parts. Their service kit was a few $$ more than what I got from Hermy's.

    Bonkers to say the least!

I've since got a service kit from Hermy's and plant to perform my own service.

To close the loop here: I went ahead with the service, and will pick the bike up Tuesday. The dealership hourly rate was $150/hr contributing to the $1825 estimate. They have reported back that the valves were within specification so no balancing or shimming required.
