If it makes you feel better about your quotes, I had two dealers quote very much the same price.  At first I was surprised at the cost, but after going through what is done and the time involved, it appears to be in line with other.  Besides that, that type of service would take more time and skill than I tend to have available.

Okay, it's January 2023 and Im not happy!! Im traveling the USA in retirement, I have my camper 2010, My truck 2008, and my Trophy 2015 as my newest possesion
 Anyways I was gonna buy a Concourse when the Trophy came along and the more I read about it... You get the drift. I recently got quoted $2,300 for the 20k maintenance!!! Are you kidding me??  I specifically crossed out the BMW because of maintenance costs  I am told $150 an hour labor! I google whats a Triumph motorcycle mechanic make? and it spits back $23.00 an hour!!
  I am asking for details, My bike isn't under warranty, I don't want ANYTHING done I can do myself, What is critical? That's all I want done ( especially at $150 an hour !!)  Does anyone have a list of what the strict requirements of the 20k maintenance What does it consist of ? ( the best scotch money can buy?,(the money pit) Is it in the manual I don't have?
  My point is I cant  afford them doing anything a $30.00 an hour cash mechanic can do . I feel trapped and Im suffocating. What is the minimum that I need to be done ? Im, not a boomer or a yuppie with stock options and a portfolio I just want to keep this bike long enough to do a trip to Alaska and then I'll downgrade unless someone has a suggestion to end this nightmare. HELP !!

$2300 is b.s.  Look for another dealer.  I take my Trophy 250 miles away to a dealer that I trust when there are several closer to me.  $2300 is an insult.  $1200 max for the 20k service.

Hi Dinty,

There is plenty you can do yourself, but at 20,000 miles the "biggy"
is having the Valve clearances and Camshaft Timing checked and adjusted.

If you can trailer the bike to a Dealer you can save money by taking the Fairing Panels off,
and doing the Oil Change yourself quite easily.  If you delve a bit further and remove the fuel tank,
you can also change the Air Filter, change the Spark Plugs and change the Fuel Filter yourself,
depending on your own abilities of course.

The Service schedule IS included in the Owners Handbook.

Alternatively you can download a modified ( by me ) Service Schedule from right here in the Forum !

Servicing Data, Reference Info. & DTC ( Fault ) Codes -

Scroll to the very first Post in that Topic and you will find a document
that you can download titled, "Trophy Forum Service Schedule v0818.pdf".

There is other useful Servicing information in that Topic such as Part Numbers for Service items,
Torque values, and DTC's ( "Diagnostic Trouble Codes" or Fault Codes ).

Some service schedule items need either the Dealer's diagnostic equipment,
or after market equipment such as "DealerTool" and/or "TigerTool"
for such tasks as changing / Bleeding the Brake fluid, where the ABS valves
have to be opened by use of the software tool, to bleed the fluid from them.

My initial quote in WI was around $1800.  I ended up around $1600 when it was all done.  Mine did not need anything done with the valves.  They were all spot on.  It took them a little under 2 days to complete.  Despite the cost, which I can budget for, I love the Trophy in every other way.  For me it was worth it to know it was all done correctly.  I also bought the bike used and did not have much information on it's history, so I was comfortable having this done for my own piece of mind.

Having said that, the $2300 you were quoted is insane.  I don't know where you are from, but call around and get competing quotes.

  Hey, I'm trying to understand the scope Prices I've seen are all over the place!!  Is this a cash grab, a lack of competent mechanics or is the work required subjective?  It's extremely frustrating to see $ numbers from $900 to $2,300  for the same 20k service. This is my first service experience with Triumph of any magnitude  I had an oil and filter done in Florida which cost me $400 which is ridiculous but the service manager wouldn't budget
    I'm a professional estimator by trade and what Im seeing disturbs me greatly!  Triumph has a good name !! What the heck is going on? These are Triumph dealers who are expected to be fair and reasonable. The fact that this huge variance in pricing occurs for the same scope of work is outrageous !
    1. Let's start by making sure the scope of the work is the same (We shouldn't have to do this)
    2. Let's check to see if the labor (man hours ) is the same  If more hours are required the rate should be lower, they could be using an apprentice to do the simple work that we could do ourselves ( removing plastic fairings, changing oil. filters, air pressure might be a few others
    3. Look at the total man hours x rate to compare shop to shop  Parts should be the same OEM online pricing
    4. Detail where the beef is!!  balancing valves? adding shims? removing cam?  This is not clear as to the minimum vs worst case !!
    I don't want a lump sum quote and then have a laundry list of VERY PREDICTABLE EXTRAS !!  please be professional
       I have received two quotes so far, neither in writing and neither indicating an all-inclusive price  Obviously there can be work done outside of the scope of work that is unforeseeable until the engines opened up But saying nothing about those extras is insane !
      If you are close to my age you most likely got taken advantage of by a shop for not asking all the right questions!
      I feel extremely vulnerable right due to the lack of transparency and a labor rate of over $150 an hour !  This is by far the highest rate I've ever paid for any mechanic, I would expect to have a true expert that will fly through the repairs and beat the book man hours consistently  This should give ultimate confidence to a quoting service manager. Then I hear" well we don't get that many Trophys it may take some time to get the plastic off" ?!! What ? at $150 an hour ?
      I'm not feeling good about Triumph management. I will keep you posted, I'm hoping I get an honest service manager who can put down the full scope of the work and what is not included but most likely need to be done. I don't think it's too much to ask  As I said Im a professional estimator and Id never get away with sloppy loose estimates that start high and go higher.  I dont have a warranty and may just dump it as I bought the Triumph to avoid this king of SXXX from BMW

If I don't do my own 40,000 mile service, I'll at least strip it down, load it in the truck with my ramp and bring it home and put it back together myself to eliminate that part of the labor.  I've removed the bodywork before for the minor service of oil change and air filter and that prodedure should save a good bit of the labor cost instead of having the dealer do it.  I intend to call and see how much they'll knock off if I do that.

Can't say since I do all my own work.  I did the 20K mile check myself shortly after I bought the bike about a year ago.  It's not that difficult, just takes some time.

Where are you located ?   Maybe you can find a Forum memeber who has done this and that can walk you through the task.
